Mydvd Burn Menu Nonresponsive Error

DemDemD

Question

I've used Creator 2010 and MyDVD is burning fine when trying to burn a regular DVD with menu, chapters, etc. I am now using Creator 2011 and MyDVD is flaking out. It would fail when it gets to the "Burn Menu" section of the burning process. The program became nonresponsive and it will ask if I want to check the internet for solutions (I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate). If I don't click anything the the program will close out after a minute. If I select "Check online for solutions..." then the program will close out and does nothing. I would like to add that this happens very often and randomly.--As I can complete the burning process from time to time.

I've tried burning direct to DVD and burning to image instead. Burning image would actually burn a full image, but corrupted.

Please help. Thanks.

Is this exactly the same project that burned fine in C2010?

Some information on the actual project would help. All you have stated is "it doesn't work".

BTW, forget about about using that silly "Check online for solutions...".

Yes, it is the same project. The Project has four AVIs of 400+mb each. Each has chapters with each cut scene at 5 minutes interval. The DVD is specified to be burnt in High Quality. Each AVI is changed to have 720x480 with 3.2 bit rate. The weird thing is that the same project will sometime burn and sometime won't complete.

Forget about file sizes, they mean very little when doing video DVDs. What matters is the time length of the video. A standard 4.7GB DVD can hold 60 minutes of video at the best quality (HQ) setting. Any longer and the video has to be compressed and you lose quality.

What kind of avi files are you using? DV avi, DivX or what?

Are you using the C2010 project file or are you redoing the whole project in C2011? What do you mean by this "Each AVI is changed to have 720x480 with 3.2 bit rate"? Changed from what to what?

I redid the whole project. I've actually figured out the issue. I was setting the Disc Label with "ABCDE_DISC01" and I don't understand why this is too long of a name (or a bad name) for MyDVD to error out at 97% (during Record Menus process). I left the Disc Label as the default "MYDVD" and it burn fine.--I'm guessing there is a character limit.

Redoing your project fixed the problem.

Changing the disc label had absolutely nothing to do with it... ;)

MyDVD does have a known issue with 16 characters in a Disc Label - IT CRASHES!

15 is fine, just don't try the 16th ;)

But your label, "ABCDE_DISC01", is only 12 so it would not be a factor.

Yep, I left out the other characters. The Disc Label was actually "ABCDE2011_DISC01". So this is the 16 characters you're referring to.

Thanks for the help
