Burned Dvd Won't Play On Hp

prosumer

Question

I can use Popcorn to burn DVDs and watch the movie on any of my Mac laptop computers without any problem. I have one HP laptop but the Windows Media Player won't play any of my DVDs. I'm not a PC-typer person but shouldn't the DVDs also be able to play on a PC??

If it plays commercial video DVDs it should also play the ones created by Popcorn. When playing them on a Mac they play using the DVD Player application, right? Unfortunately I don't know anything about PCs, either.

Windows Media Player by default cannot play DVD discs. It requires a plugin to be able to do that. There are some free ones out there, but I don't have info on them handy. You could post a question in the main General section of the board as I know some of the other regulars here could probably point you to one.

Or you could just install the free VLC Player on your HP PC. It will play DVD discs.

Thanks to the two responders.

1) Yes, when I play then on my Mac it uses the DVD Player and works fine

2) I just assume the Window Media Player was enough to view a DVD movie and that's why I asked. Since I'm not a PC user, typically, I wanted to be sure this wasn't a burning issue or just some quirk with the Windows Media Player. Sounds like no burning issue and, ahem, this reinforces why I am a Mac user LOL Things just work

I will look for the appropriate plugins!
