No Audio On Video

DallasNJCowboys

Question

Hello, I have Roxio Creator 2010 Special Edition. I downloaded HD Movies from my Nikon S8100 Coolpix camera. I downloaded them onto my computer (Windows 7) via USB (2.0). They play everywhere with excellent video and audio. When I bring them into Roxio I lose the audio and the video doesn't play smooth. They come over in .mov format. I've tried converting them in several formats and nothing works. Please help. Thanks, Rich from NJ.

USB transfers from a digital video cam can't handle audio - you need to use a firewire connection

You issue is pretty typical of cameras pretending to be camcorders. unsure.gif

I don't think that camera has a firewire port. Use the USB port and COPY the videos to your computer. If they are mov files:

1) try renaming the extensions to mp4. Make sure that you have set Windows to show hidden extension in folder options or they will be misnamed. Renaming the extension sometimes works.

if it doesn't

2) Use a third party converter to convert them to mpg2 files. Get a free one from Cnet.com. I use "Any Video Converter" but the others should be OK. It takes just a couple of minutes to convert the files. If they are HD, make sure you convert to mpg2 HD. The drop down options on the program are sort of hidden so you have to click on the format and the drop down will show up.

After the renaming or converting the files, tyry using them in Edit Video -Advanced (Video Wave) again.
