Edit Video - Windows 7 - D3Dx9_33.dll Missing

Installed Roxio Creator 2011 on Windows 7 PC. When I ran "Edit Video", error message reads, "The program can't start because d2dx9_33.dll is missing...".

 

I re-downloaded and reinstalled Roxio Creator 2011. Rebooted. The same error came up when I tried to run "Edit Video".

 

Downloaded and added d3dx9_33.dll to the c:/Windows/System32 directory. Rebooted. The same error came up when I tried to run "Edit Video".

 

Please suggest a solution to this problem. Thanks.

That is a system registry error. Please tell us about your computer and operating system and service packs for that OS. What anti-virus are you running? Have you had any other issue with your computer lately?

 

The first thing to try is to redownload and reinstall DirectX9c. That error is typical of a DirectX error.

 

If that doesn't work, assuming that the download was complete and not corrupted. Update your computer using these instructions; don't skip. Shut off your anti-virus. Re-run the installation and when the offer to reinstall/repair come up, use it.

I have Windows 7 but was not able to install the latest Windows updates. I have McAfee antivirus. I had previously tried to reinstall Roxio and selected the "Repair" option, only to have problems before the "repair" could be completed.

 

I did the following:

-Uninstalled Roxio Creator 2011 and Roxio Content (then rebooted)

-Installed Windows update (rebooted)

-Disabled the McAfee firewall

-Installed Roxio Creator 2011, then the Roxio Creator Content (rebooted)

 

This solved the problem. I don't know if Windows caused a problem for Roxio, Roxio caused a problem for Windows, or something else was causing the problems.

Hi, I went over all the suggestions here and I'm still getting the same dll error - very frustrating.

When I searched for info about such dll errors I found in Micrsofot's support site a thread (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/188213) as well as another post, that suggest it is either a truly missing/corrupted dll, which it isn't in my case, or this might be a registration problem of d3dx9_33-dll in my Windows system, the path to that file is either missing or wrong. Can anyone instruct me how to detect and be able to fix that damaged path to d3dx9_33-dll?

You said you 'went over' all the suggestions, but did you actually DO this?:

 

-Uninstalled Roxio Creator 2011 and Roxio Content (then rebooted)

-Installed Windows update (rebooted)

-Disabled the firewall

-Installed Roxio Creator 2011, then the Roxio Creator Content (rebooted)

 

That's what solved the problem for dbpeckham.

 

If you think you have a registration problem with that DLL, read the Microsoft KB article HERE and see if you can register the DLL properly with Regsvr32.
