Media Import

Doug54

Question

I am using Windows 7 and my camcorder is a Canon Elura 80. The Roxio Media Import recognizes my camera, turns on the play and just stops with the starting frame. it does not give me a choice to "Capture Now", "Capture Entire Tape" or any of the media (play, stop, etc.) functions...............it also says no media. Can anyone help with this?post-78325-019771500 1303056060.jpg

How have you connected the camcorder to your PC? Since that is a miniDV camcorder you should be using a Firewire connection to capture.

Ok......I have found the problem. Looking through other posts in this forum I seen where I could change the Firewire driver. (http://forums.support.roxio.com/topic/70002-firewire-camcorder-not-recognized) The system said I was using the newest version but I installed the "legacy" and it is working perfectly. It also corrected another problem that I had. When I would run the camcorder the first time the program would recognize it as a device. If I were to shut the camcorder off and turn it on again it wouldn`t being recognized or show up as a device in the program , no where to be found. I would have to reboot and start over.

Glad you found the solution. It seems that W7 screws up by installing Firewire drivers that that are not compatible with many Firewire devices. There are hundreds of hits when you do a Google search.
