Quality Issues

sbouldin13

Question

I am using Mac OS X version 10.6.7, with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor and 4 GB DDR3 RAM. I am very displeased with the quality of video that is captured with the Easy VHS to DVD for Mac product. I have used both the analog and the S-video inputs, and I have used both choices of quality for capture. Each time, the result is a very grainy video. Are there any other adjustments that I can make within the products' settings? I used a Pinnacle product on my previous IBM compatible machine, and the quality was much, much better.

Aside from the quality setting in the application there are no adjustments available. Are you viewing the captured video at actual size on your computer?

I am viewing the file in its full size on the Mac, and on my televison by playing the DVDs that I create.

If by full size you mean full screen then you are zooming the video much bugger than its actual size. On most computer displays the actual size is about one-fourth the screen size because the video DVD spec is 720x480 pixels (my iMac's screen is 1920x1080 pixels, more than four times larger). So the quality naturally will look pretty bad enlarged that much. However, it should look reasonably good on a TV. If your source was a VHS tape it should look about the same as when playing the tape on the TV.
