I have been using Roxio through many versions and releases. I currently have Creator 2011 Pro loaded on a labtop running Windows XP-Pro (32 bit) and am experiencing some strange behavior when burning audio CD's. I am ripping approximately 1000 LP's to .mp3 and .wav files (my entire record collection) and have complete about 800 since starting last fall. When I update from Creator 2010 Special Edition to Creator 2011 Pro I started having burn rate issues. I am using an external HP DVD840 connected to my HP nw8240 laptop (the same set I have used for the entire project so far). It has 2 GB of ram and is running nothing other than the Roxio LP and Tape Assistant, after ripping and editing the tags and adjusting start and stop points I save .mp3 and .wav files of each LP I rip, then I burn an audio CD-R as well. In the past the burn speed has varied between 16x and 24x with this setup, but since installing the 2011 Pro it sometimes drops to .1x to.5x, usually with time (several minutes) it will re-adjust and speed up to maybe 4x to 8x and on rare occasion is simply works fine as before at 16x to 24x. The burner works fine with other applications (such as easy CD-Creator) just slows down when I try to burn following the rip. I am using the clean tool but I have on almost all of the rips that I have done. Any ideas on what to check, I have uninstalled and reinstalled all the creator bits a couple of times and have uninstalled and reinstalled the CD/DVD burner as well with nothing seeming to make a difference.
