Toast 11 With Tivo

tivo_user

Question

About three months ago I purchased my first Mac along with Toast 10, so that I could download and watch TV shows on either my computer or Ipod Touch, for shows I had recorded on my Tivo. Everything with the setup and operation went fine. I was especially impressed with the video quality of the computer playback. It looked equivalent to playing back on my HDTV.

A few weeks ago Roxio offered an upgrade to Toast 11 and I accepted. After installing the software, I immediately noticed a big difference in the video quality for computer playback. I also noticed that the video player name had changed from Toast Video Player to Roxio Video Player. When using the newer Roxio Video Player in Toast 11, I notice frames being dropped (i.e. jerky video) and more macro blocks at various times.

As a consequence, I have reverted back to using Toast 10.

On a separate note, when editing video in Toast 11 I liked the finer control of being able to select specific frames, but I also miss the cruder frame selection feature on the Toast 10 editor. In my opinion that feature was very useful for quickly finding, then eradicating commercials out of my recorded TV shows.

In addition, one editing feature I would like to see Roxio add to Toast software is a simple video/audio fade in and fade out feature.
