Label Creator

wpsnts

Question

I am using Roxio Creator 2011 Special Edition with Windows 7. All updates are installed and current. My issue is with Label Creator. After I have created a block of text I attempt to use the alignment tools to position the text. When I use the horizontal button the text aligns vertically. When I use the vertical button the text aligns horizontally. The buttons for top, bottom, left and right alignment do nothing. I always make sure that the text block is selected. I have installed and reinstalled the program several times. Always doing clean installs.

Does Label Creator have guidelines that I can drag and position on the screen to assist with the alignment of objects?

Thanks for your time and help.

Dave

Jim,

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question. The answer that you provided is not the answer to my question, probably because I did not phrase my question properly or did not give enough information. On the other hand I did learn something new from your explanations, that's always a good thing :D . I was not realizing that the tools are for aligning objects with one another. I was trying to use them to align a single object with the boarders of a template outline. I read the help files several times but was just not comprehending what it was saying, a common problem I have had my entire life . In the past I had used Nero to create labels which had the ability to do the alignment I was trying to get Roxio to do.

The Drag Handles and Arrows I am familiar with and use frequently in many programs.

My question about Guidelines has to do with being able to drag a line from the rulers and set them somewhere in the template to assist with alignment of a single object in the template. An example would be on a Disc label. On my labels I put the album artist on top and the album title on the bottom of the label using curved text. My goal is to have the two equally spaced end to end from one anther. Nero has this feature and I found it very useful.

Thank you again for your help and time.

Dave

Boy! I haven't made a disc lable in years...

The alignment buttons still work with discs.

As far as size, it is by eyeball as far as I know...

I would compose them off the disc for a better visual, then slide them over and align them after they were set.

Roxio's Disc Labler is funcitonal but not the best. I mostly do DVD Cases & LightScribe and it works well enough for me.

I used MediaFace years ago and I recall there were some features that I liked better with that. Nothing that was a deal breaker so I decided to confine myself to the Roxio Suite!

One workaround for this I've used is to click the Add Line text in the Add Object panel. Stretch it out and position it and then right click and select Lock so it stays where you want it until you are finished aligning your elements.
