Device Could Not Be Initialized....please Help!

ajax88

Question

Last night I tried using the easy VHS to DVD for mac...and it worked fine. Then, I closed my laptop but kept everything plugged in (didn't change any settings) and today, in the playback window, it's telling me "device could not be initialized." I'm trying to do a Mother's Day present and am limited in time. Can't believe it's $1.89/minute for technical support...please help! I've tried unplugging and plugging back in, tried different movies, nothing works. Please help!

Have you shut down your Mac, waited about 10 seconds and then restarted? Try that instead of a simple restart. I've never seen that message on a Mac so I'm at a loss for what's the cause. But since it originally worked, a new startup might be all that's needed. Also, try launching the application before inserting the device. And be sure to insert it in a built-in USB port and not through a USB hub.

Thanks for your help. Yes, I tried all that and more. Sometimes it would recognize the device, sometimes not. And then when it did, sometimes it would have a signal, and sometimes not. Finally I got so frustrated that I decided to return it. Judging by the reviews I looked up online, many other people have had this same problem.

Thanks again for your response.
