Hello one and all.

 

I am using Roxio Creator 2011 Pro on a Windows 7 Ultimate OS.

 

I transferred a video tape into my hard drive with ease and plays back fine (file extention mpg) but when I began to build my DVD I found I could not trim the file. The VideoWave program would not allow me to even play the program in the editing window.

 

Rather than make any adjustments to the program or my PC I decided to install Creator 2011 on my lap top (Windows 7 also) (I have a disc from Roxio) and tried the same procedures I did on my desktop and the results were the same. I cannot edit. When I try to play the file it will not play either. What's wrong?

 

 

In addition I find that DVD-DL will not burn either.

 

I've burned a few cds and had no problem so like many I find myself frustrated with a program that only half works.

 

Can you offer any solution?

The transfer was from a vhs machine to my pc. the tape was of a tv program from years ago. the capture device is yours (Roxio Capture USB) format & resolution (MPEG) I don't know how to assertain resolution but it did play back fine. it was the editing that's not happening. I don't know how to make a screen shot.

Editing went fine with some other tapes I had done. I guess the best description of Video Wave is frozen from the minute the window opens.

Please bear in mind that the problem exists on 2 pcs not one which should give you and idea that just perhaps it's not the fault of my pcs.

Frustrated Rich, the folks on the forums are not Roxio unless you see the Roxio logo by their name.

If you have the same problem on 2 pc, then the chances are that the video capture was bad or the file corrupted or had too many skipped frames. Recapture.

 

You can also try another file if you have one from a previous project.

 

Just because it plays doen't mean that there is no corruption; players often skip over the bad areas but the program can't.

thanks for the advice but here's where we are now:

 

I tried the recapture before I even bothered to write. it didn't work.

 

not more than 3 hours ago I put Creator 11 into my laptop to compare the problem. My laptop and desk top and it's contents are no more than 9 months old.

 

I tried another project that originally worked and it no longer does.

 

I finally figured how to do a screen shot. They are attached.

 

If you or anybody out there cannot help me then can you direct me to a Roxio representative or support phone #.

Have you tried to split the video (double headed arrow after you select the video) and then delete what you don't want? That works. Watch this video.

Yes I tried what you suggested before I started writing you.

 

As I said before the problem existed just as soon as I put the program in my laptop. I cannot preview even in the editing process the arrows just jump back to where they started.

 

Certainly somebody has experienced the same thing.

Sorry, I don't understand your response. Did you watch the video that I linked to? If you use that process, there are no arrows to jump back.

 

Perhaps you can get Roxio to understand what your issue is. It is apparent that we have a failure to communicate.

How long in time is the project you are working with?

 

Capture a short 5 minute clip and try to work with that.

I tried a short clip. No luck.

 

 

I just don't know what is wrong. I refuse to blame my new pcs when all my other programs work fine. My drivers are up to date. My firmware is up to date. It seems all the options I have left is a direct conversation with Corel. I removed the program from both machines and reinstalled them and still it won't edit. I can't help but feel I threw 100 bucks away for a program that seems to have built in flaws. Shame on Roxio.

You are making some very BIG Assumptions that your PC and files are perfect…

 

I don’t know what you think “Corel” has to do with anything?

 

Several people have made an attempt to assist you but without your cooperation, that will probably not continue…

 

We are just fellow users here but we do have a lot of experance.

Forgive me. That's why I am "Frustrated Rich". My intentions were not to harass.

 

I didn't mean Corel of course when in the end I spoke of Roxio.

 

I am not very good at tech talk yet I think I answered all questions to the best of my ability. What exactly did I miss?

 

As I said earlier my equipment is relatively new, no more than 9 months old and since I have all the necessary updating and protections from within and without that money can buy. I cannot easily accept there is something wrong with my hardware. I have had no crashes or malfuntions, all files are scanned for corruption and I reboot once a week to refresh.

 

I was originally using Creator 10 but removed it before I installed 11.

 

In addition I said that I was able to edit at an earlier point on my PC and when it failed to work I found that after I installed the program into my laptop the same editing failures occured. The actual transfer (excuse me) Capture was flawless. I can no longer edit.

 

I will try to calm down. There has to be an answer. Why has no one figured it out?

 

I have been told that installing and unistalling a program too much can be harmful and I want to avoid that. I want to avoid program removal programs too because they often remove too much and you never get the full program unless you pay for it. I don't want to buy something I cannot trust will not mess up what doesn't need to be messed up. I've been through this with my previous PC.

 

I did follow your advice to install InFrarecorder to see if it will overcome the DVD-DL non burn issue but don't want to deal with burning until I finish my editing.

 

I realize many people see these posts. I want to give them hope not frustration as I am feeling.
