Device Manager Display

DickG

Question

When I open Device Manager>Sound Video and Game Controllers the window shows presence of Roxio Video capture device, but USB 2861 Device is missing.[Please see the screen shot] From following the forum your advice says it should be there.

The program seems to work well and it captures both audio and video. I am not inclined to change anything but I would like to understand what is going on.

Any suggestion?

Thanks for all your help.

That version of V2D is the last of the really, really good ones

You can use your EMC 8 to both Capture and Edit/Burn if you prefer or even jump back and forth between the 2 programs. That version of V2D has quite a bit of Editing horsepower included.

If you pop in with other questions, be sure to mention the Version you are using as we tend to answer assuming it is the Win 7 Compatible Build 201B23A that came out last year. ;)

Thanks for the additional information. There is no way for an amateur to be aware of the fine points which you point out. I will go slow in updating to 2011 version.

Depending on your video needs, 2011 is hard to beat!!!

However, it does tax a PC and you want to review the minimum specs, 2011 or 2011 PRO, to make sure you at least MEET or better yet, EXCEED them

But you already have the device and it will work with all Roxio software from DVD Builder 6 through 2011! just a thought...

The pictures & posts you saw were based on Vista & Win7...

You are running XP and both entries are present:

I see EMC 8 on your screen cap, may I ask what version or build of V2D you are running?

EMC 8 is safe from V2D but some version will destroy EMC 9 or EMC 10 :o

Thank you for the explanation.

I have V2D Version 111B25F.

The Sreen shot shows which Roxio Programs are installed on the computer. Roxio Creator 8.0 came with the computer when I bought it. 8.2 came with a Mad Dog external DVD writer with lightscribe capability which I added afterward.

So far everything seems compatible. Do you have any suggestions? I personally follow the " if it ain't broke, don't fit" philosophy[especially with computers].

Following the forum is an education in itself. Thanks for all your help.

Regards,
