Incomplete Installation

pleasehelp

Question

I installed the product, and installation stated that it was successful. But I did not have any icons on the desktop nor any way to execute the applications (there were no links and the software was not there). I looked on the CD and found a file ""Roxio Easy VHS to DVD.msi" on the CD. I double-clicked that, asked for "Repair", and much more was installed, including desktop icons. I downloaded the updated USB driver, and installed it (file was "setup.exe", not what was specified on web). I rebooted. When I try and run VHS to DVD, I receive a message: "An unknown error has occurred. The application will shut down now. Exception: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." I get the same message when the VCR is not connected. I believe that the installation is bad, but I have no idea as to what is missing.

I have a Dell 5150 which was built in August, 2004. I run XP SP3, and have updated all software to be current, including the video and audio drivers.

Has anyone seen this situation? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks loads.

Guessing your AV is probably interfering…

Make sure the USB device is unplugged and place it in another room!

Do the Prep Steps to the letter!

Then uninstall the product through the control panel… If you see the driver set listed, uninstall that as it is unnecessary for the Win7 Version.

Then reboot and install the software.

Now go get the USB device and give it a try ;)
