Help! I Lost The Original Pkg. For Easy Vhs->Dvd & Can't Remember The Prod. Key!

@pggii

Question

Hey!

I purchased Roxio Easy VHS-->DVD approx. a year ago to convert some old tapes. When I first attempted to install it, it wouldn't install. I put it down for a few months, as I had another job to do. When I returned to install again, I had lost the original packaging and therefore, the Prod. ID Key.

Is there ANY way of gleaning the prod. key so I can finally get this thing installed, or, after reading all the trouble people are having with the product, should I just trash it and go buy an RF converter and do it the REALLY EASY WAY???

Try this https://www.roxio.com/registration/registerproduct.aspx?lang=enu

The first thing you need to do is figure out why it didn't install in the first place. ?? I suggest that as even if you had the key code

you would need to find out why it's not installing properly. Then maybe start looking around for the original program package to see

if you can find it. Had you initially installed it and registered the program with Roxio, you could go to "Support" under registration page

and look up the registration number.

Nope. Tried that. They don't have the serial numbers for such an old/cheap product! This is the message at the end of that page:

If you still cannot find your CD Key after following the steps above, Roxio can not supply you with a new CD Key/Serial Number.

Any other ideas? When this originally wouldn't install on top of Vista(x64), I should have taken it back THEN!!!!

First, thanks Frank, for the info. It didn't install cuz' it was one of those flakey CD's to begin with. I was able to copy the CD and get THAT one to install, but, the drivers for the USB device wouldn't install at that time.

I've since LOST (no way to find it anymore!) the original packaging; hence my predicament!

Yes, I'm aware of my lack of registering when I first bought the program, but, it wasn't that expensive to begin with, and, I needed to use it pronto! As it is, I farmed out the work to someone else when I couldn't get it to work originally.

Now I have another set of tapes to convert, hence my new request here for help in maybe being able to use this #$^@ thing, since I paid for it!

Failing that, as I told Brendan, I guess I'm gonna hafta go buy an RF-solution at Fry's next month and start over!

I HATE ROXIO S#!t. It NEVER SEEMS TO WORK RIGHT THE FIRST TIME! (there. i feel better.)

If you logged in here https://www.roxio.com/registration/login.aspx?lang= and your cd key was not shown, then go with your plan B.

Sorry, but it does sound like you "up the creek" without a paddle !

Maybe the best thing to do is as others have suggested--go with your plan "B".

I have the program and have used it a lot and when installed correctly it really works great !

Thank you, Frank. And, Thank all of you, too! Thank you all for rubbing it in how I've wasted my money on an application that YOU claim works really great! Unfortunately, that is not what makes STANDARDS or HAPPY CUSTOMERS. Trust me; I've been around for quite some time.

I will happily go and use another product, and eventually ROXIO products will go the way of the dinosaur anyways...

TTFN!
