Copying Movies

Tarielle

Question

Hello all, I have a very quick question.

Can I copy store bought VHS tapes to DVD. I have several old movies that I purchased years ago which I would love to have on DVD allowing me to get rid of the VHS tapes.

I wouldn't think there would be encryption to worry about but not sure if this can be done.

Please can someone advise yay or nay on this.

Thanking you in advance.

If the VHS tapes are Macrovision encoded, I don't believe that VHS to DVD will copy them.

Aside: Rovi, the company that started the Macrovision encoding, now owns Sonic Solutions, which merged with Roxio 6 or 7 years ago.

Thanks for your answer grandpabruce.

Is there any way for me to tell if the tape is Macrovision encoded?

Perhaps it's printed on the vhs tape label or the cover somewhere.

I just saw that you listed that you were a Vietnam vet and noticed that you were there the same year as I was born. That just seems amazing to me, that it was all happening when I was just a baby.

You have a very beautiful looking dog too!
