Installing Roxio Creator 2011

rickluc

Question

I have had Roxio Easy VHS to DVD installed on my computer for about 4 weeks. Never did get it running right, being the idiot I am I bought Roxio Creator 2011. I read in the group about uninstalling all the other Roxio and Sonic software and some of the other stuff to perform before trying to install Roxio 2011. My question is: the only reason I bought the VHS to DVD was to get the a?d conversion USB device. The video Capture USB part worked fine. I could import video from my analog camcorder and it would put the video into the Roxio capture folder. What will happen when I uninstall all the Roxio software. How will I keep the Roxio Video Capture USB device running? Thanks

That error about unable to load skin is troublesome. Other people have mentioned that issue and I've never seen a good resolution that will work for everyone. Search this site and maybe you will find someone who has solved the problem

Installing via an administrator account is almost mandatory.

Also download and install MSXML 4.0 SP3;

I think you may have to do a complete removal of the software., updating your computer, shutting off your anti-virus and then doing a install to a NEW administrator account. :(

If you uinistalled Creator 2009, why is it still on your desktop. Is it a shortcut that you didn't install yet?

I can't get the link to MSXML 4.0 to work. How do I find that download? Thanks

I contacted Tech support this morning and after a few message and sending them my log file they sent back this message. I didn't have Explorer 9 installed. Did #2. Had already updated my video card driver a long time ago. Didn't check on #4. Did #5. Hallelujah. Everything starts now. Never had a chance to try everything, a little overwhelming. Did try video capture with my Roxio Video Capture USB off of my old analog camcorder and it worked. FANTASTIC. Thanks for everyones ideals and help. Hopefully won't be back for a while. Thanks again

From Teck support;

I suggest you to follow the steps given below to resolve this runtime error:

1)Uninstall Internet Explorer 9 Beta if you have installed on your computer.

2)Update Direct X with latest version using the link below:

http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en

3)Update Video card driver: You can very well update your video card driver based on your make and model number of your computer or you can contact your computer manufacturer to update the same.

4)Turn off Windows Aero feature if enabled:

http://windows.micro...th-Windows-Aero

5)Download and install MSXML.msi 4 SP3: http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en

So you did what I suggested several posts ago? :unsure::o:P

Link worked this time. Thanks Went to this link and it doesn't say that it is for operating system Windows 7. Although I do have the MSXML 1, 2, 3 in my control panel, programs. So it's OK for Windows 7? Thanks

I was wrong, I have 4 programs of MSXML 4 SP2. Just different KB numbers. Is this normal?

Your install log files contain your CD Key, never post them in a public forum!

If you would like me to look at them I will send you a PM Personnel message with a email address..

Sure any help would be appreciated. Thanks for the headsup on posting to discussion group. I was sure trying.

I'm going to try to upload again but the file size is 2.56 MB. Maybe I can go into folder and upload files.

Also was reading Sonic Boom's pinned message about DirectX9. To much there for me to understand. I found on my computer system that I have DirectX11. When I was installing Creator 2011 I was watching the screen and it looked like DirectX9 was installing. Don't understand computer stuff to well but would DirectX9 over install DirectX11? Should I also try to do what he recooments before reinstalling? If so as I said, I'd have to have it explained a little better for me to understand. Thanks

Sorry that I did not check that link. Try this.

If the suggestion doesn't work, yes, you should;

1) Uninstall Creator 2011 (complete Uninstall),

2) update your computer,

3) shut off your anti-virus (and the registry cleaner), Note this will be the hardest part.; get help from Norton. Other people have posted that pausing it doesn't work.

4) create a new administrator account in Windows and

5) reinstall to that account..

6) Turn on your anti-virus but NOT the registry cleaner or you may have continuing problems.

In place of number 1) You can try the free Revo installer using the moderate mode. Get rid of anything installed that you didn't know installed; especially the Creator 2009 things.

I never had Creator 2009. I think what you are refurring to is the file I downloaded to use for my Roxio Easy VHS to DVD Vedio Capture USB if Creator 2011 didn't install one for me. What are you telling me about reinstall Creator 2011? That I should log out of my Family Account and log into my Admin. Account, or does it matter? Thanks

Then why do you have a folder/program called C2009 on your desktop?

To attach a file to a post:

1-click on "Click to attach files"

2-a file selection window opens, navigate to where the file is

3-select the filen then click Open

4-back in the message box, place the cursor where you want to place the attached file

5-click "Add to Post"

Attaching the install log files really is not very useful. Most of us here cannot interpret it.

Well could it have been that I was trying to attach a folder instead of a file? I thought I had read some where that some would like to see the log files.

I can type %appdata% and it took me to my c:,user,family, roaming folder. Of course there wasn't any log files there. I found them in my C:, user, admin name,roaming, roxio log files. What I do is run in the family account all the time. I never log out of this account and log into my Admin. account. If I'm installing software that wants permission to install it gives me the admin password window. So I found the log files in C;,users, admin. name, appdata, roaming, Roxio Log Files. Could this be why my Creator 2011 isn't loading right? I'm going to try to upload again but the file size is 2.56 MB. Maybe I can go into folder and upload files. Thanks

Well I found my Roxio Log Files. I'm not able to upload for some reason. They are zipped and on my desktop. I go down below message box and click on the browse button. It takes me to my desktop where I click on the zipped file. It shows the path in the browse window. I then click on Attach this file. I waits a little bit and it comes back and says Error No file was selected for upload. I'm logged in to this discussion group.

Well I'm back. I unistalled Roxio Easy VHS to DVDand cleaned registry. Removed anything that had a name of Roxio or Sunic.

Installed copy of Roxio Creator 2011. I think there was a capture videoUSB installed also.

Any way the first time I tryed to open Capture Video on the home screen in Roxio Creator 2011 I got two error messages. I will try to attach;

What goes? Thanks

Also if I click on the Create DVD button on the home page I get this error message

And if I click on the edit vedio-advanced button I get this error message

Thanks

Time to call Roxio. You have free tech service with Creator 2011. Creator 2011 will install drivers for a USB device BUT the current USB device drivers may not work with an older capture device. This is based on the fact that he current USB device is supposed to work only with Creator 2010 and 2011.

Perhaps someone else has a ready answer for you.

OK I got everything removed that had any association with Roxio and Sonic.I THINK. I want to know before I install Creator 2011 what to do with the downloaded software zipped file Roxio C2009 USB Capture driver. I removed the driver that installed with Roxio Easy VHS to DVD. When do I install it or do I? Thanks
