Video Import And Playing Issues

paf007

Question

I have Creator 2011 Pro installed on my computer. When editing video and trying to watch video using Video Wave and MyDVD, every video I use that has been imported from my Canon (.MOV files) plays back with the audio very choppy and not matching the video. However, if I open a window to trim the video, the video plays fine. When burning a DVD, the video audio still comes out choppy and not matching the video. The videos all play fine in any other video program (Windows Media, etc.). Videos from older cameras I had shot and are saved on my external harddrive seem to work fine, though. I've even tried to copy my newer videos on to my internal harddrive and see if this fixes the problem, but it did not.

My next attempt to fix the issue brought forth yet an other problem I am having. I tried to download the videos through video capture, but video capture will not recognize any media (DVD, USB connected device). I tried unisnstalling and then reinstalling Creator, but this did not seem to help. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, my computer's OS is Windows 7. I just bought the computer in April. It is completely up to date with drivers, updates, etc. It has a 1TB HDD and 6GB RAM. Thank you!

Could you post a small video file sample (from my Canon .MOV files) at a site like (Up For Down - Free File Hosting and Sharing - 10GB of free storage)?

Are you looking for just a clip from the camera itself, or do you want somehow a clip of what happens when I'm trying to use it in MyDVD? If it is the later, could you explain how I might go about doing that? Thank you!

I have posted one here:

http://www.upfordown.com/files/download/10845/MVI_0870.MOV

It was one of the clips I was trying to work with on the DVD project.

Thank you!

Ok I get the same thing.

Do you have .Mov files from this cannon that work?

Have you burned any of these from a project to DVD and do you get the same thing?

I've learned anything to do with apple and quicktime all bets are off, kinda like Vista!

So far, none of .mov files have worked. I did try burning a DVD, and it played the same way (audio jumping, not matching video). It stinks that quicktime causes so many issues with this program.

A fellow user sknis, has informed me that is often cured by changing the extension of the file from .Mov to .Mp4.

I sure would give it a try..

Ok, thanks. Dumb question here. Does creator have a program for converting media file types, or will I need to download a conversion program to try this out?

Thank you!

Sorry changing the file extension, first open control panel, folder options, make sure 'show hidden file, folders, and drives is checked', and hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.

Now right click your MVI_0870.mov file and click rename, change to this, MVI_0870.mp4 , OK?

I renamed the file, both as a .mp4 and .wmv, but neither fixed the problem. Do you know of anything else I might try?

Thank you!

Go to cnet.com and look at free mov to mpg2 converters. There are many.

For some reason I'm having a problem downloading the video file you put on up for down. I can't suggest alternatives if I can't download it.

Identical problem with newer system, Windows7 pro 64 bits

Intel i7-2600K, Asus P8p67, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 1GB 256-bit GDDR5, 8GB DDR3 2200 SDRAM, SSD Vertex3 120GB SATA OS Drive, WD 1TB ATA Disks, LG Blueray bruner

Adding movies into MyDVD to build a DVD.

All the files that I want to add are .MOV on my Canon T3i

Capturing initially thru the Canon EX Browser tool to extract from the camera (recommended by Canon)

The files are viewable entirely with the sound the the Canon or with Quicklime.

Changing the extension to MP4 does not change anything.

Found this discussion on the web regarding Roxio being aware of the issue and can not fix it

http://reviews.cnet.com/cd-dvd-authoring/roxio-creator-2011/4864-6445_7-34161173-5.html

==>

Summary: I've been having long discussions with Roxio Support as their latest 2011 Software will not process MOV files correctly from my SX10is. I'm also aware that other Canon cameras produce the same problem. The same MOV file, from the same camera, on the same PC, on the same Operating System works fine in the previous release Roxio2010.

I'm not expecting anyone to miraculously come up with a solution for Roxio Support (I've sent them a sample MOV file and they have even reproduced the problem - they just can't seem to fix it) but I'm just making anyone aware that the current Roxio2011 has issues with all sorts of Canon cameras for processing MOV files.

<==

Further test that Roxio support can look at:

Once in MyDVD, I select the Video file in the PROJECT VIEW, Then Right Click , EDIT MOVIE

At the bottom, I select SHOW/HIDE TRACKS

I Select the NATIVE option in the SHOW AUDIO TRACK

The Native TRACK is displayed in the PRODUCTION EDITOR

Double click on your NATIVE TRACK for the specific file

Only partial sound graphic is displayed, if you play, the sound will stop when the graphic stop ... BUT

on that same Audio Editor, if you select CLEAN AUDIO, the sound will play even if you do not see the sound mixer graphic anymore ...so the sound is there

Crossing fingers ... as this is quite frustrating
