Importing Old Projects

Joeretired

Question

Here's the scoop. I have rel 10.2 of Roxio Creator that was pre-installed when I received my computer. Using Windows XP, SP3. I created several music projects under 10.2. I have an external hard drive that does automatic backups of my data, and the projects were saved on the external hard drive. This past week I was hit with a MALWARE attack that basically wiped out my system. Dell had to send me a new hard drive. I've since re-installed all my software except Roxio Creator 10.2. I bought Roxio Creator 11, non pro version. Since I have all my old projects saved I moved them back to my hard drive, and now I want rel 11 to recognize them. Support says I can't do this. What they are telling me is that if you upgrade to a newer release you have to redo all your projects. This sounds ridiculous, because if someone were to have say a 100 old projects they would have to redo them. There should be a way for an upgraded release to recognize projects created from an older version.

Some thoughts???

If all you are doing is to burn another copy, just copy the disc.

You could "import" the disc into whatever program you are using by adding the songs from the disc...

If you don't have the disc, you could install the 10.2 DE and burn the missing ones to an CD-RW, and thence Add to 2011...

So there are work arounds you just need to find the ones that will work best for you ;)

Of course if Roxio would build in version compatiblilty this would be a non-event :(

Yes those 2 version are far enough apart that no conflect will exist.

10.2 is based on that number whereas 2011 would have been 13.xxx had they continued that line of numbering but is 1.3.116.

In anycase I have 2011 and 10.3 DE running on 2 PCs. (10.3 was a win7 version)
