Game Capture Software Doesn't Work

I've purchased the Roxio Game Capture hardware, but cannot get the capture software to run. The initial window opens, but after I press the blue record button, the next window that opens is just a blank, white window. Also, the title of this program reads something like StringRef:CaptureUtilityStream, as opposed to saying Roxio Media Capture.

 

Based on some advice I found about installing Roxio software, I uninstalled and tried reinstalling it with my anti-virus and firewall off, and MSCONFIG items all disabled, but I still get the same result. What's more, when my friend tried installing the software on his laptop, it worked fine.

 

I use a Dell running Windows 7 64bit. My friend's Toshiba laptop runs the same OS.

 

Incidentally the blue channel for component input/output also doesn't seem to work, but so far replacing the device is no good if I can't make the software run on my computer. Thank you for your feedback.

this is what a tech told me and it fixed the problem

"The error is usually caused by corrupted MSXML 4.0 files. Download and install the latest XML 4.0 update from Microsoft from the link below to resolve the issue.
