Freezing While Recording? Recording From 8Mm Vhs To Dvd Freezes

Mellowman

Question

Freezing While Recording? recording from 8mm vhs to dvd freezes. Seems to freeze everytime it reached 1 hour and 8 minutes. I tried it on four different tapes and got the same results. Has anyone here encountered this issue? Greatly appreciated.

Are you recording directly to DVD, or are you going to your hard drive first?

If you're recording directly to DVD, what quality did you select? At Best Quality, you can only fit about 1 hour onto a 4.7GB disc. If that's the case, then once the disc is full... I'd say it has to do something, and maybe not gracefully.

Let us know some more details about what you're doing.

I'm not recording directly to DVD(I'm using option Record, Edit and Save), saving it on HD. I got it to work once, after that I could not duplicate it. So even if I choose option best quality it should still work, correct? Thanks again.

What is the size of the captured file?

It's probably the same as the other one I created that work successfully. 13 Gb. Thanks

13 gigs? That is a pretty big file. but it should be OK on a disc. I just looked and I have a 9 G HD mpg2 file and it is 50 minutes long.

How much free spacxe do you have on your drive that you are capturing to? Have you cleaned it lately and defragged it? You can use somehting like CCleaner to clean the drive (don't use the regisrtry cleaner) and Auslogics or Smart Defrag to defrag the drive quickly. You can get both from cnet.com downloads.

I have a 500 Gb hard drive and I've used up 50% of it so far, so I don't think it's an issue with drive space...thanks...

I've also tried using a 2Tb external hard drive and got the same results...I'm wondering if it's a hardware issue? Then again when I try to start over again it works just fine......until it gets to 1 hour and 8 minutes....thanks again

I think the longest I ever captured continuously was around 8 hours…

You need to list the Version/Build of your V2D as well as your PC Specs, like you see in our signatures.

One oddity is that 12 GB for a 1 hour capture is impossible in the 201B Build :o

About 4 GB per hour is the ONLY rate 201B works at.

There are many factors that could come into play here, but without those details impossible to guess ;)

But I feel we can get you running or at least come up with a good workaround.
