How Do I Fix This Problem?

dre

Question

I installed Roxio on a new computer today. This computer had WinXP. Every time I boot up the computer I get a logon on box. When I went into my user accounts to disable the logon box I received a message saying that I could not change anything because a recently installed program has disabled the welcome screen and caused this box to appear and if I wanted to change these options then I would have to remove the program.

When I opened up Roxio to look at the preferences and see if I could disable anything there that may be causing this I could not find anything to disable or that would be causing this to happen.

Has this happened to anyone else? And what can I do to stop this from happening?

What logon box are tou referring to? Could you post a screen shot? I have never heard of anything like that connected with any Roxio program.

Did you disable your antivirus when you installed C2011?

A new computer with Windows XP? What SP level is XP?

No, I cannot do a screen shot.

It was a used computer that we installed a previous hd to - wiped it clean. I had to install WinXP on it. I had not yet installed any antivirus program before Roxio. Roxio did create the problem. The box showed up only after installing Roxio and rebooting the computer.

Anyone can create a password protected logon to their computer if you go into your "User Accounts" in the control panel. I need to know why this is happening and how to stop it.

Go and have a look in the 'User Accounts part of your Control Panel.

It is likely that Microsoft's .NET software has created an extra account on your computer for install purposes. Having this extra account present will require you to log on each time you start the computer.

Delete the new account [it isn't needed now] and you should be back to normal when Windows starts up.

This won't happen again unless you reinstall the Microsoft .NET software

Brendon
