tsantee
The format is MPEG2 recorded from tv,I want to remove the adverts from the film Click the Edit button next to the video title in the Popcorn window. Click the Edit button in the window that appears. This launches the Toast Video Player which also is the editor. I suggest enlarging the player's window to full screen. Move the playhead to a point where you want to start a section you want omitted. Click the double triangle that's in the middle bottom of the screen. Drag the right half of the triangle to the right until you get to a place you want the edit to end. You can fine tune the placement by clicking on an arrow and use the keyboard arrow keys. Move the playhead to another point where you want an edit to begin and repeat the process. When done choose Save from the File menu and close the Toast Video Player. Popcorn now knows to skip those segments you marked. Check the final project to make sure it all is complete the way you want. There are times when Popcorn has stopped and edited project before getting to the final ending.

If you ran into the problem where the entire edited video didn't appear in the final output, then you'll need to use MPEG Streamclip to edit the video instead of Popcorn. MPEG Streamclip is free but requires Apple's $20 QuickTime MPEG 2 Playback Component. You mark each edit one at a time and choose Trim or Cut (I don't remember which) from the Edit menu. When done with all the edits choose Convert to MPEG from the file menu and use that saved version in Popcorn. If you had a different problem using Popcorn's editor let me know what it was.
