Distorted Bass With Gamecap

Therandus

Question

Friend of mine purchased the roxio gamecap and we were testing it out on my xbox, and playstation. The video quality is fantastic but anytime it tries to play music with bass or anything with base the sound is distorted or too loud. We have been trying to solve this problem for about 3 days now but to no avail. We have attempted pretty much everything on the forum, from messing with volumes, updating drivers, to reinstalling windows entirely.

System specs are

OS Windows 7

RAM 2 GB

Processor Intel ® Core2 Extreme CPU X7900 @2.80GHz

Honestly not sure what the soundcard is though, but it's a Realtek or something like that...

Here is a video of the issue... We have tried it with multiple games and it all turns out the same. Each horribly distorted when it comes to the bass. It is very frustrating. Didn't embed correctly so here is a direct link to the video.

The bass may not seem that bad in that clip... but it's the only clip I have right now where the bass is constant... On my tv you can just hear the bass in the background on the captured video it's like 15 times louder.

Same issue myself. Already tried adjusting the volume of the device through the recording devices menu. Some videos its not as bad but sometimes it completely ruins the video entirely.

Yeah, The video I posted was one of the least horrible ones... just because it was the only one where bass was actually shown... I still can't seem to get this problem fixed it's kind of annoying.

YES. Its a driver problem. You can not control the volume of the audio recordings. Some programs allow this.

I hope that not only improve it, how to add the option of recording to MPEG2.

So do you know any ways to fix the problem right now?

Sadly didn't help... Thanks for actually replying with something that may have helped... I'm starting to think I just have a faulty gamecap...

No I don't think you have a faulty game cap. Several of us owners have this problem. Right now I am trying to see if the normalize audio will help. If not I am going to try to adjust the sound capture. I think the device just captures such raw audio the levels aren't adjusted at all internally. Mine captures audio way too loud with default settings.

More tests to do before I am satisfied. Hopefully Roxio can update the drivers or application to solve this without having to do external kung-fu to the audio stream.
