Mixed Pal And Ntsc Content In Video Disk Burn

Concak

Question

I'm trying to burn a DVD from seven high quality *.mov files, to work in Europe.

The problem is that two of the files are in NTSC format (which has a frame rate of 29fps instead of 25fps for PAL). When I go to burn the desk, the following error message appears:

"You are about to create a disc with mixed PAL and NTSC content. Are you sure you want to do this? Discs with mixed content may not play on all players".

Does anyone know of any workflow to change the frame rate to convert the NTSC to PAL?

Toast can convert the video from NTSC to PAL during the encoding stage. Set PAL as your desired format in Toast Preferences. I think all you need to do then is instruct Toast to make all the video's PAL when you see that message. If that doesn't do it then just put the NTSC videos in the Toast window and choose Save as Disc Image. The PAL conversions will be in the Roxio Converted Items folder when the disc image is done (as long as you don't quit Toast) and you can add them to the video window with your other PAL videos.

Most PAL DVD players can transcode NTSC during playback so it might not be an issue to have mixed formats on the disc.
