First of all, please turn caps lock OFF when posting 9block caps are hard to read)

You have a lot of stuff on the desktop that isn't needed there (and that takes up resources). It's better to move stuff to a folder and shortcut link to them. (Installation programs can be dumped)

That being said, please post your system specs - CPU, RAM and graphics

Obviously I am new at posting on roxio so i hope this reply is in the right place. i am enclosing a new attachment so you can see the Roxio Icon shortcut which also has that little emplem like a shield on the lower right hand corner, i dont think the original icon had that. anyway i have uninstalled & installed with antivirus off, all starting programs disabled. Like I said it worked fine the first couple of days, i dont know if ire-installed internet explorer before or after the roxio shortcut stopped working. I have Gateway 6 gigs memory, 1 T hard drive as you see below. all apps have installed ok, its just that the main desktop shotcut, the one that you access the other programs with, the main screen (blue screen ) does not work (open) thats where i get the windows will now close even though it has not opened. your help is gretly appreciated. i thank you and all those in the roxio community. thanks Jimrodz

Firts of all you have a very basic graphics chipset and loading all those apps directly on the desktop DOES eat up graphics processing. The system is having to redraw abouut 70 times a second and while shortcuts are small, it's having to reload full applications and files.

1: NEVER keep files or applications on the desktop - use shortcuts from elsewhere on the hard drive

2: Move documents into the 'My Documents' folder

3: drop stuff like flash when you have downloaaded and installed it (or keep it in the downloads folder - never on the desktop

Do a clean install following these instructions exactly:

It is difficult to trouble shoot your issues if there are too many other things going on and eating CPU and memory.

I agree with Daithi, you have too many things running on your computer that eat up CPU and memory. I counted 9 programs in your task bar but could not tell how many of them were actually running./quick start.

One suggestion would be to download the free Soluto software(link) and stop the programs that don't need to be running at boot and to select others that you would start only when you need them. You could use msconfig to do that but sometimes it is difficult to know what to remove from boot and what not to remove. Do you know how many processes are running on your computer? Start Task Manager and go to processes. At the bottom left there number of running processes will be listed. You may not need them all. There is no guideline for the number of processes. I just rebooted and saw that is had just over 50 which includes a disply tuners, anti-virus, a back up program, an automatic disc defragger, and a USB removel tool. Other process would load when I needed to use the program associated with the process.

Typically if the Home page doesn't load properly is because 1) You had your anti-virus active during install or 2) You are using a registry cleaner that thinks that certain Roxio entries are malware. Your Norton will do that. You can turn off your registry cleaner, they don't do what you think they do and they will cause problems.

Thanks guys, taking it all in, still trying to get this going. at least the applications on their own are working without the roxio home screen. of course it would be nice to have it the way it stared out aprox 20 days ago. i will try reintalling turning norton 360 off. i think you are right when you said that norton or it's registry cleaner deleted the needed file, i ask you is there anyway i can find oud which file and how i can get it back if possible, if it's a dll file can it be gotten somewhere. listen i thank you ahead of time and also for your help in general. thanks jimrodz
