Trim Screen Is Black

mrsdriver5

Question

I've used the trim quite a bit, but lately the screen stays black and the time doesn't change. However, sometimes I can view the section in the little Start and End screens and the video plays fine. I've got old eyes. The bigger screen is much easier to make my precision marks. Do I possibly have a setting messed up or something? I don't really want to do a repair since everything else is working great and I'm afraid I'd end up messing things up. If no one has an easy fix or solution, I'll just keep squinting into the little screens. Thanks for any suggestions~

Oops, sorry. I just noticed that I have Creator 2010 Pro on my computer. I've never gotten around to installing 2011. I'm sorry I put this on the wrong site, but I'm not sure how to delete it.

If you prefer a big screen to do the trimming, why don't you use the split and delete method? The only drawback is if you want to delete just a couple of frames, basically fractions of a second at 30 frames a second, the split and delete method doesn't work well or at all. I usually use a transition if I want to hide a fraction of a second. . Watch this.

There has been some kind of update (not Roxio) that has removed that center screen. It happened to me and I cannot get it back even by deleting it and reinstalling it. It happens in Creator 2010 and Creator 2011 to a few people.

OK...thanks. I'll quit trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong and assume it's just not there anymore. I'm working around it using the split & delete method, but I liked the ability to trim a little more precisely. Thank you for replying~

More precisely? Use the icons below the preview to move ONE frame at a time forward or backward ! At 30 frames per second, one frame is 0.033 seconds ! A blink is 0.4 seconds  Yes, you can only trim 10 frames or more; that would still be .33 seconds.

Since I can't use the trim screen, I've been using split/delete on the main screen, but I can't use it to delete just a couple of frames, so I have to Undo and change my point of splitting. It's just more time consuming than it was when I could use the trim screen.
