Data Dvds Burnt With Creator Classic Not Being Recognized

ghosefacek

Question

I'm running Roxio Creator 2011 Pro on Win 7 and have been burning back up discs for a long time and never had an issue. I am using Creator Classic to create data discs and using DVD+R as my media since I have a lot of files and do not want to spread them across multiple cd-rs. Out of the blue the discs are no longer being recognized in any computer (4 different ones). When I try to open the disc I get "Please insert a disc into drive D:". You can see the data was printed on to the dvd. I burn at 2.4x and have checked and un-checked read-only disc. I have also been using the same media and never had a problem. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

edit

I'm burning mainly mp3s but also some word files. It's basically a dump just to back up everything in case my external fails. Also I am using Sony blanks. I also tried a few Memorex just to see if it was the media.

Yes. As in a long time ago I'm talking about going back 5 months. Just recently this has happened. I also tried to only burn selected files thinking maybe there was an issue with a corrupted file, but no dice. Also the disc completes...I do not receive an error while burning.

Do you have another disc burning program you can use, such as the one in Windows?

Try some quality discs such as Verbatim. Memorex are considered very low quality whilc Sony are somewhat better. Neither Memorex nor Sony "manufacture" their own disc but farm them out and so quality is not always the same.

I do not know how to burn a data disc using windows. I've always used Sony and Memorex and never had probs. I'll leave the office now and pick up some verbatims to test.

Any idea how the blanks being from the same pack could be bad?

To burn a data disc using Windows 7, click on Star, then Help and Support, then type in "burning a disc".

I tried burning with windows and got

"there was an error burning the disc. the disc might no longer be usable."

So I guess it's a problem with my burner? If so, why would it work with burning mp3s to a cd-r but not dvd?

Burning to CDs and DVDs use different lasers in your burner.

Why e-bay? You never know what you get:lol:

I bought a drive from there for my other laptop when I was having problems when I first installed Creator 2011 and it worked. Where would you suggest I get one?

Download a free 30 day trial of Opti Drive Control # 3 in my signature.

Or DVDInfoPro 14 day trial, http://www.dvdinfopro.com/download.php

Then run a disc quality check, it should tell you if the problem is with the disc or your drive.

I installed Opti Drive Control

I ran it with a recently burned bad disc and got "No suitable disc inserted"

It completed a scan when I used an older DVD.
