Error Messages When Attempting To Run <Record> Or <Record, Edit&save>

I'm trying to copy a vhs tape to dvd for the first time using roxio easy vhs to dvd.

when i select the <record> option, this error msg displays:

can't burn to dvd: error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component

 

When i select the <record, edit & save> option, this error msg displays:

an unknown error has occurred. The applicatio will shut down now. Exception: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.

Then Windows displays this pop up: Roxio Esy Vhs to DVD has stopped working"

 

I cannot figure out how to move forward with either option. My computer runs Windows 7 professional, directx 11, IE 9, Windows Media Player 11, hp cssvdw ts-L633m , intel core i7 cpu, q720 @ 1.60 ghz, 4mg RAM, 64-bit OS

 

All system requirements match or are higher than required to run the software.

Any suggestions on how to move forward? Thanks so much.

Make absolutely sure you dont have a copy of IE9 Beta or Release Candidate on your PC!

 

Do a Help About:

 

 

If you have a Beta or RC it will say so after the Version number. (the pic here is an official release version and good to go )

 

If that checks out OK then I suggest the next step is to make sure the software is OK.

 

To do that, do the Prep Steps to the letter!

 

Then start to install of the Suite, only pick Repair when it is offered.

 

Then try it out. It could be a harware issue but try these things first to make sure!

 

If that doesn’t help, post back with the Make and Model of your Burner (look in Device Manager) and details of the media you are trying to burn to.

I have a Sony Vaio VPCF122FX laptop running Windows 7, Intel Core i7, Q 740 @ 1.73 GHz, 64-bit Os, directx SDK, IE 9 (not a beta version or Release Cndidate), Windows Media Player Version 12.0.7601.17514

I have performed all of the Prep steps and the cables are connected properly...please help me before I lose my mind!!!!
