Slow Motion, Fast Motion Ie Time Warp

gcdonner

Question

Is there such a thing as slow motion or fast motion video effects for use with Video Wave 9? I bought the Creator 9 DE, thinking that it might be in there since it wasn't in the "MyDVD 9 studio that I bought. Do I have to upgrade to Creator 10 or 11 to get control of the speed of my video clips?

Thanks for your help in advance.

OH, one more question, it seems that I lose the gradient in the text effects when I change the font. Is there a way to control that too?

Thanks again.

George

You bought a cut-down OEM version which has a LOT of parts missing

The current version is Creator 2011 (there is no 'Creator 10' or 'Creator 11')

However, what OS are you using and what are the system specs? You need to be cartain that your computer has sufficient power to run it (especially for video work)

In regard to slow motion - this actually depends on the source. To get smooth slow motion playback requires that the scene be shot at high speed, then played back at normal speed. Anything else will be jerky. Speeding up is a different matter

I wondered if the versions that I had were less than complete... I have over 600GB of harddrive, with about 400 still free and 3 gig of RAM on a Windows XP Media editon 2005 in a Compaq Presario computer. It runs most of my other video programs, which have this slo-mo and fast-mo available, but I like some of the apps in the Roxio program better as well as its ease of use (most of the time). Can I do the fast mo/slo mo in another program, save it and then open it as a project in the creator program...ie VideoWave9 and still keep the slo mo or sped up speed going? I don't like to have to do it that way, but...

Maybe I just need to sell more stuff on eBay and buy the latest and greatest video program and be done with it.

Thanks again for your help.

The 'DE' is the giveaway there - it stands for 'Dell Edition' and is a cut-down OEM variant

You could probably pick up Creator 2009 or 2010 on e-bay at a cheap price considering the current version is now Creator 2011.

Creator 2009 will work fine in XP (it won't work with Windows 7 which needs Creator 2010 or later)

Yup, I bought the Creator from eBay. The MYDVD 9 studio I got, new in the package from the local thrift store and except for the slow mo and speed up missing, it works quite nicely. I only bought the creator because I thought it would include the Time Warp feature. Lots of nice transitions etc. I do have Windows Movie Maker on my computer and have used that alot, but it lacks in the text effects. It does have speed controls though. I also have an older version of Pinnacle that I had bought new back in 06, and it has great text effects, better than any of the others, but like the Roxio programs doesn't have slow mo or speed up, without spending another $60 for the add on. If I am going to spend that much I might as well get a complete up to date program with all the bells and whistles included.

Thanks so much for all your help. Now I just need to decide what to do with it all and what direction to go.

Blessings,

George

So, will Creator 2009 have the Time Warp feature in it? I have MYDVD 9, and Creator 9 DE and neither do. Actually, why doesn't Roxio just sell VideoWave as a separate entity? It is that particular part of the program that I am interested in...

Looks like you have one wild computer going on, but waaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy toooooooooooooooo many OS and other peripherals going on for this old codger.

Check this KB article

http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/content/kb/Creator/000154CR&PARAMS=set-locale=en

You will find tho that a slow motion playback will be jerky (this is down to recording speed and can't be helped)

I looked at the link, and unfortunately there is no "speed" selection in the dropdown menu. If it were there, I would have already used it. I think it is only present in the premium editions? That seems to be what I am gathering from my investigations. That is why I bought the Creator program thinking it was an upgrade from the MYDVD 9 studio...Oh well, live and learn.

Thanks again for your help. You have provided more information than any other source that I have accessed. I appreciate it.

Sincerely,

George

That version "9 DE" you say you bought on eBay is a crippled version of the full EMC 9 program. It was usually supplied free with a Dell computer system and it looks like somebody is reselling it on eBay.

I does say "Not licensed for individual resale" right on the CD... Go figure... Money is gone now...
