Installation Error 1603

musikman1

Question

Hi all,

I've been using Roxio since version 4, this is my first time problem.

Version: 2012, downloaded from Roxio

I get three big files from Roxio, and then the setup starts automatically.

I get (according to the logs) past the Directx9, then:

Install DirectXFEB10 Install failed with error 1603.

Any ideas, help appreciated.

SYSTEM:

Case: CoolerMaster

MOBO: FoxConn H-SD800:uATX

CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 975 (Quad:3.6G)

RAM: 4 x 4GB Corsair Vengeance

OS: Win7Pro/64

HDD: 1 x 1TB WD, 1 x 1TB WD, 1 x 2TB Seagate

Opt: 1 x Asus Bluray, 1 x Sony Bluray, 1 x Lightscribe DVD/CD

Floppy: 1 x USB Floppy drive (A:\)

Card Reader: 14-in-1 mounted internal

GPU: EVGA GTX580 SC

Windows installed fine, I've installed a few startup utilities (this is a new machine) with the pack.google.com and a few more, and no errors or problems until attempting to load Roxio.

Thanks for any assist!

Additional edit:

My files from the 'Net are downloaded to E:\downloads NOT C:, maybe have to relocate the master files and start them from C:?? I am INSTALLING to C:, but keep all downloads on the bigger drive.

I am having the same issue, but further into the install. I am getting the fatal 1603 error code. See below. Have email tech support but my faith in them is low as it seems every version Ihave bought since #4 or 5) has some type of install issue.

It took some ivestigation, but I found the problem. There was a directory left over from a previous version, Roxio 3D samples, that had soome security issues so that it could not be modified and I was unable to change them. The installer was trying to delete and add a file and was not able to. I was able to rename the directory and after that the installer finished.

I've installed a few startup utilities

Okay, a long shot (it could be noumerous other things)... but maybe you can check if the "Windows Installer" service is set to "Automatic" and is running (Start > enter "services.msc" in search text field > press Enter key). If not, set it to "Automatic", start the service and try installing Creator 2012 again.
