flyingnannygoat
Hi Sorry if this has already been answered but I am new and have not seen an answer to this question. Is it possible using Toast Titanium 11 to convert a DVD to an AVI file and if so how do I do it? Thanks in advance! Jamie
theoldarchiver
From all the conversions options, it seems AVI is not among the formats. It seems AVI is (only) supported as input. For conversion to AVI, you may need to look at other conversion software.

tsantee
Is there something else I can use. Thanks again! Jamie AVI is not a format but a container. Typically an .avi contains a mpeg-4 video so choosing MPEG 4 as the conversion setting will create a video that is playable on anything that plays .avi files. If you have to put it in an .avi container then I expect you can find some tool to do that at macupdate.com.
theoldarchiver
Is there something else I can use. AviDemux (not very Mac-like), D-Vision (v3 requires Rosetta, v4 is beta and French), ffmpegX (powerful but not easy), iFFmpeg ($10), MPEG Streamclip (*), VideoVangelist (works but development stopped), VisualHub (works but discontinued). More on MacUpdate.com (with possibly lesser rating). (I'm skipping the expensive garbage apps that flood Google searches on purpose.) (*) While MPEG Streamclip is free, it needs the $20 Apple QuickTime MPEG-2 playback Component for conversions from MPEG-2 (as used on DVDs). I do recommend the app, though.
