I bought the Easy VHS to DVD software package a while back (maybe year or two or three). I installed it on my old Dell pentium III system and the install seemed to work, I registered the s/w but when I tried to copy a VHS tape into the hard disk, it would start and then hang up. I got frustrated with it and put it up on the shelf.
I have since completely upgraded my other Dell pentium 4 system from windows xp to windows 7 home premium 32 bit version and have been slowly putting software back on the system. I did not copy over any applications and only am installing from original media.
Last night I opened the Easy VHS to DVD bundle and attempted to install it. I plugged in the dongle and system recognized it but could not find the deveice driver. Loaded up the the installation DVD and started the install. At some point, half hour or so, system seemed stalled. No lights on the front of the dvd reader showing any activity and no progress on the progress bar. Gave it another 15 minutes or so and then tried to cancel the install. It posted a message saying it was attempting to roll back the install. Gave that 30 minutes and then killed the whole process with the task manager. Did the program un-install and started over.
Now when I attempt to install, it starts setup, asks me for the licencse key and then gives me error 0652. when I click on the okay, program exits and nothing happens. Researched error code online last night and it referenced issues with virus s/w so turned that off and no change.
Today found this forum and actually was able to log in and post this. So hopefully some one can explain what's going on. Before I get a lecture on killing the install process, i gave it more than sufficient time and saw no activity lights on the dvd reader or the front of the CPU.
I suspect I have a version that is not compatible to with windows 7 but don't know how to get past that. do I have to go buy another updated version or can I download an updated version from the roxio website?
