Editing Dvd

tape

Question

I recorded a multi-hour TV show comprised of multiple shorter episodes onto a DVD. Problem is now the DVD is just one long show. I'd like to separate the existing DVD into chapters so my granddaughter can choose which show to watch on her portable DVD player. I know I probably have to copy over the DVD to my computer, edit it by adding chapters and then reburn onto a new DVD. I'm not sure of the steps I need to take to perform this. Help please.

I should have listened to friends: Roxio a waste of money!!!!!!!

Contact Roxio on Monday if you bought the program from them. You have a 30 day warranty. Also remember that there are industry standard that get in the way of what you want to do.

Use video copy and convert to get the video files back onto your computer and then do the above links. Do you have the original files on your computer?

I have used at least 5 other video editing programs and they are basically all the same. If you can't figure out how to run them, perhaps you'll need some help from your granddaughter.

Thank YOU-GURU!!!!

I apologize for that granddaughter remark. It was not called for.

Use Video Copy and convert to copy the DVD to your computer and then to bun a new DVD from that application. If you do author a DVD that way, you can get almost 2 hours of video on a DVD but at a much reduced quality. One hours at the same quality that is on the disc now. You could also split the videos in Video Copy and Convert and make a DivX disc if your player will play that.

Here is a pdf covering the subject. Hopefully it is more on track.
