Creator 2012 Errors

richbam

Question

Up to now I've been a (relatively) happy user of Creator Pro 2011 and last week decided to opt for a download upgrade to 2012. I have made several attempts to get this to work and have been corresponding with the help desk for 4 days and have basically ended up where I started i.e. I cannot get the program to run. I did everything suggested by the help desk. I performed a complete uninstall as per their KBA's including cleaning out the registry and removing all other references to Roxio and Sonic. I downloaded the software again and disabled all start-up programs through msconfig. I disabled all my anti-virus programs, and then restarted once more and installed the software. This got me absolutely nowhere. I have exactly the same result as I had when I first tried to install last Sunday. On start up I get a Virtual C++ runtime error, and then the following errors: 'Roxio Content Merger Module has stopped working", "MM Tray App Module has stopped working", "Roxio Burn Launcher has stopped working", "Rox Watch 12 Module has stopped working". I need to know now if anybody out there has any further advice on where to go next?. If not then I will ask for a refund and I will want to reload Creator pro 2011, as this worked fine before. I am also attaching a windows event viewer log file so that somebody who really understands computers can review it.

I have a DELL Studio 1555 64bit os running Vista Home Premium with service pack 2

I moved you thread here. You have an installation issue. One of Roxio's knowledgeable experts (in the true sense of the word) comes here to help. He may miss this thread in the other part of the forum.

I hope you don't mind me jumping in on this.

Here are the programs I have

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 ATL Update kb973923 - x86 8.0.50727.4053

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable

Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.30729.4148

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.30729.6161

And the attached files in C:\Windows\WinSxS\manifests\x86_microsoft.vc90.crt_*

Can you try removing?

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.30729.6161

The dll version we're trying to load is 9.0.30729.4148. If that doesn't work I might have to hack the .exe to load dlls differently.

There is no easy solution to side-by-side conflicts from what I'm reading on MSFT sites.

I removed Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.30729.6161 and did a complete uninstall. I then did a clean install and got the same errors. After that, I tried "setup.exe DisableProducts=DirectX_FEB10 MANDATORY=0", which I had read in another discussion. That took me to the Creator 12 installation screen where I chose "repair". Went through the installation and got the same thing.:(

Thks for all your comments and suggestions - nice to have at least somebody who has a genuine interest in helping out, rather then the remote disinterest of the help desk!

As I didn't have a great deal of time available over the weekend I opted to use the system restore on my laptop and took it back 10 days to before all these problems started. It sort of worked in that it restored a desktop icon for Creator pro 2011, but strangely when I opened it it started creator 2011 not the pro version?

I couldn't figure that out so I then tried to install the Creator Pro 2011 that I had saved on DVD. This appeared to work until I tried to run it, but then I got "The certificate file is missing or corrupted" each time I tried to open any of the menus on the home page. So I did a complete uninstall once again, wiped everything associated with Roxio/Sonic, did a restart and started the Creator Pro install from scratch, and wonder of wonders I now have it working :lol:

In the meantime I have an email from the help desk offering me a refund for the 2012 download. Should I just stick with what I've got (If it ain't broke, don't fix it!) or should I try again with your guys help to have another go at loading 2012???

If Creator 2011 Pro does everything you need it for, and it isn't broken, then there is no need to try to install Creator 2012 again. That is just my opinion.
