Richard Frank
The user rights are not the same. And, I have no idea about the profile issue.
Sonic Boom
Posting the directx install log here in case someone else has a clue. So far I have not found out why DirectX is not installing. Could be a conflict with previous version. DirectXLog.zip
Martin Dekker
Just wondering and guessing here... in the "old" logfile I see a sort of standard TEMP dir being used for extracting the CAB's to and installing from. In the "last" log file I see DirectX is using a TEMP dir on D:. Did you change profile locations or something? Can you check if the userrights on D:\users\238695\TEMP\ are the same as C:\Windows\TEMP\ ?

Richard Frank
If you can't help us with basic questions, how could we help you? Seriously? You think I'm some tech guru on this? That's what I paid you guys for - to provide me with a product that I can install. I have been completely understanding with the tech issues but I do not appreciate this. And now you are going to insert a ridiculous question about "basic questions"? If you don't want to actually help, tell me now and I'll return your product today. I will say thank you to Sonic Boom for his/her help.
Sonic Boom
One last suggestion. Try the web installer here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=
Sonic Boom
Also Nero 13 might have a built in uninstaller for DirectX. I would try uninstalling it too to see if that helps.

Richard Frank
Also Nero 13 might have a built in uninstaller for DirectX. I would try uninstalling it too to see if that helps. I have Nero 7 so I'm not sure on this part. I looked in all of the folders for Nero 7 and couldn't find anything about DirectX. I will try the previous post instructions. I appreciate your help on this, I'm sure, very time consuming problem.

The rest of us are volunteers and you didn't pay us. Perfect. I wasn't aware of the volunteers issue so no disrespect intended for ya'll. If you have any useful input, I'd appreciate it. I really would. This has just been very frustrating and I didn't appreciate his comments. Otherwise, I'll discuss with Sonic Boom and if we can't figure something out, then I'll return it. Thanks again.
Martin Dekker
The user rights are not the same. Okay, If you can find out how the user rights are set, then you are more of an IT guy than most of the people I get on the phone asking for help Maybe you can set the user rights on the "new" temp directory the same as on the "old" temp dir and give it another try. Sonic Boom
If you are disabling DIRECTX you'll need to install it after Roxio or else several of the apps will not run. I believe Videowave and MyDVD rely upon it. You can either run from folder DIRECTX_FEB10\dxsetup.exe or download it from here http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=9033

Richard Frank
DIRECTX installation problem. Run the commandline install to skip it. setup.exe DisableProducts=DIRECTX_FEB10 Mandatory=0 This sends me to "Selective Setup" where I can uninstall some programs. Where do I go from there? Sonic Boom
That selective setup is not part of our installer. You may not be running setup from the correct folder. Please make sure you run this command from command prompt where <InstallPath> is the location of where the setup files are. <InstallPath>\setup.exe DisableProducts=DIRECTX_FEB10 Mandatory=
