Toast 11 Cannot Be Started After Installation

machardy

Question

Hello,

I just purchased Toast 11 Titanium on DVD and immediately installed it on my OS X 10.7 system. The installation process went through without major issues. However, after the "Installation successful" notification, I can only find a "forbidden" folder in the applications folder of my iMac. Clicking on it responds with a "you have no access rights to view this folder" or similar bullshit. I am always as admin on my system, so should have ALL rights.

It seems that other folks had similar problems, but I did not really find a solution in the posts. Any idea, what might be wrong?

This is the first time that I have an issue with a purchased software, since I am working with my Mac :-( - a bit frustrated.

Can anybody help here?

Best regards

Gerhard

I purchased Toast 11 Titanium on DVD

There was a permissions bug in early versions of Toast 11. Later updates have fixed that.

From a Roxio knowledge base article:

  • You may run a small fixer app to fix the permissions, or
  • You can manually change the permissions for the Toast 11 Titanium folder within the Applications folder, and then the Toast Menu Styles folder at /Library/Application Support/Roxio following the steps below:

  1. Right click on the Toast 11 folder and click on Get Info.
  2. Click on the padlock icon at the bottom and enter the password then press OK.
  3. Under the Sharing & Permissions, change the privilege options for user/admin/everyone from 'No Access' to 'Read & Write'.

You also can install Toast from the 11.0.4 update at Roxio's Software Updates page rather than from the disc. It includes everything except the extras included with the Toast Pro version. Just use your registration key included with your purchased version.

Thanks, have got the info also from Roxio Support Line.

To me this is a clear mistake of the installer.... should be repaired by Roxio ASAP.

Let's see whether everything works as it should, now.
