Learning Center Has A Bug?

berryb

Question

When I go to the Learning Center, my "Ad-Aware Total Security" - a very high-ranking Anti-Virus program says:

Website blocked!

Ad-Aware Total Security has denied access to this website.

The site contains infected code: JS:Pdfka-BAU [Trj] (Engine-B )

What do you think of this? (Image captured and annotated with the red arrows and text, by using JING from TechSmith.)

Bert,

Sorry for the delay, I have been out most of the day.

I've installed C2012 again, and here's what the Learning Center has available for video. If you would care to PM me with a list of the PDFs you want, and include an email address I can reach you at, I'll send them to you. I think the Editing with Videowave one would be a good starting point.

That should hold you until your A/V people sort things out.

I hear the Cash Register going Ding, ding, ding . . . Thanks for the picture though!

With all your experience, why isn't my name showing an envelope here?

Yes, it doesn't show up for yourself but be assured others see it. Sometime computers do things that you least expect.

The same reason I don't show one for myself!

Should I send myself a PM message?

I'm out of here..Good luck..

With all your experience and knowledge you shouldn't have a problem finding a envelope next to Brendon's name!

Use the envelope right under his name in one of his posts.

My personal opinion only; . Stay away from the highly proprietary RealPlayer. Only a few things will read or convert the RL files and you will not be able to use them in the Roxio software.

In the above, did you accidentally select to open a 3D project? That would be the only way you could get that particular tutorial. You want to open a 16 by 9 project for either videos or images. The images will not fill the screen but there are workarounds. Let us know if you have an issue.

OK, I'm as dumb as a pair of socks, but I couldn't find the 'Envelope' right under his name???

As far as that goes, I don't see envelopes under anyone's name! As I told Brendon, I've been in computers for years but I'm a complete 'Newbie' with this Forum. Maybe some one good with 'Jing' or 'Snagit' can show me>

I recorded in RealPlayer, simply to be able to save and play those videos. That part works fine.

And as far as the "3D project" goes, I was merely following cdanteek's help in tracking down the 'Help' Tutorials.'

I was pointing out when I followed that path before and clicked on 'Tutorials' that the only Tutorial I got, was that pop-up "3D" thing.

Thanks again for your assistance!

Bert

RE: How much experience do you have on a computer and running software programs?

(Somehow, this sounds like a little 'Dig!')

It's a very long story, but the answer is, probably much more than you! I built my own computer in 1976 and programmed it first in BASIC and then Assembly Language. I’m a BSEE-degreed engineer and when the IBM PC’s first came out, I was my Engineering department’s Guru, helping all the computer neophytes. I programmed two machines for my company, Litton, using TSO. I started selling PC’s as a home business in 1986. I was eventually laid off as an engineer by Litton after 29 years, and immediately rehired as a Technician by their PC Center because of my knowledge. I taught classes in Windows, Excel and Word.

I spent seven years with the Center, working with employees, helping them with computer problems and fixing their machines. I spent the last two years on the Help Desk answering questions about ‘How-to’ before I retired.

Unfortunately, in all those years, I NEVER worked on a Video Editing program, and all I’ve needed is a little help!

Instead, several Roxio Guru’s seemed to want to ‘Box my ears’ about my troubles with Lavasoft’s Ad Aware Total Security and NOT help with my problem!

Fortunately, two other Guru’s DID want to help, which I think is what the Community Forum is all about.

I don't see any 'Envelopes' - I've been in computers for years,

Best regards,

Brendon

Thanks Brendon,

I'm mainly interested in a PDF about editing video.

Unfortunately, I'm as dumb about 'PM' as I am about editing video.' So unless you can tell me how to do that, I'm in my usual trouble!

sknis supplied some very helpful information! Most of it was in video files and because of my hearing difficulties, wasn't as helpful as a 'written' PDF file will be. I did record all of the videos that he made me aware of, along with the accompaning text with each.

With some study, I'm hopeful there will be a 'nugget' or two amongst all that stuff!

From what I've read so far, I believe you are correct: Editing with Videowave is the PDF that I need.

In reviewing these Posts before I sent this I find sknis has offered this suggestion "Use the envelope right under his name in one of his posts"

I don't see any 'Envelopes' - I've been in computers for years, but I'm such a 'newbie' on this Forum!

So you are able to view the help files, video, and PDF files?

Why not view a non 3D tutorial?

How much experience do you have on a computer and running software programs?

Thanks for the wealth of very good information! Because of my hearing problems, videos are not always the best tools for me, but the "Using Scenes in Video Wave" from your second link was very understandable and straight forward!

As far as the first attachment, I saved all of the videos using Realplayer, and in addition saved the text in a very large WORD doc.

I plan to use the two in combination to see what I can learn. As you pointed out, Brendon will send me PDF files (as soon as I can learn how to "PM" him.)

Thanks again, Bert

Brendon will forward the pdf files. You didn't indicate that you might be interested in video turorials. In case you are:

There are a couple of very good basic tutorials developed by karri for Vidoe Wave working primarily with images rather than videos. Videos can be substituted for images and they will work the same.

I have a couple of dated videos on Video Wave that may be helpful also. Use these in conjunction with the above.

Also be aware that Roxio has a You Tube channel that is helpful. The Video Wave processes for Creator 2010, Creator 2011 and Creator 2012 are very similar and may be helpful.

Blue text above are links.

Believe it or not, I did get that far one time, Clicked Help, then Tutorials, and then got the attachment.

Since I all needed was a simple video I decided 3D videos were WAY out of my league!

Believe what you will - you have been TOLD there is a false positive on several sites and ONLY Avast and Adaware are being tripped by it.

Avast has updated to fix this - your problem is with Adaware NOT having been fixed

Dear gi7omy,

I asked this before and it has nothing to do with Ad Aware or any false positives. Can YOU help?

Let us get to the real problem:

What I had said earlier was that I had used ROXIO Easy VHS to DVD to copy a family VHS recording. I then purchased Creator 2012 PRO to edit that video recording. Not knowing ANYTHING about Creator 2012, I was persuaded to purchase it because of the HOME page which said! "New! Choose from dozens of built-in video tutorials and printable .pdf instructions."

Sounded good, so I bought it. Only then I could NOT find any 'printable PDF instructions. (I did not yet know about the Learning center.) When I asked ROXIO Customer Support, "Where are all these printable PDF instruction files, saying all I wanted to do was edit my 'VHS to DVD' video."

Someone in Customer Support sent me a Three-page video-editting instruction (Knowledgebase Article 000187CR) - Only three pages for something that could be very complex to a Newbie!!! They said was from an earlier Creator version??? They also didn't bother telling me about that Learning Center. (Which as it turns out, wouldn't have helped me anyway!)

Do YOU know where I can find a ROXIO 'Editing Video' PDF? That's ALL that I need!

Cdanteek offered this suggestion: " Open Edit Video Advanced = Videowave use the help file.." which I have not been able to translate. Can you?

Thanks for your support!

That line of code is giving false positives elsewhere - THAT's the problem - not the websites

That line of code may very well becausing the problem, but in the meantime, I cannot use Learning Center.

I selected Lavasoft's "Ad Aware Total Security because of it high VB100 rating." See the attached chart.

Here's the website: http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/latest_comparative/index

In addition check out list of the number of 'False Positives' that many A-V's put out - I was amazed!

http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/archive/test?recent=1

Scroll down to Lavasoft to compare.

If your Ad-Aware Total Security is giving false positives for Roxio Learning Center, what else is it reporting wrong? I would never run it while installing a program!

Open Edit Video Advanced = Videowave use the help file..

Thanks for your again Quick reply!

But did you miss the a 'Newbie' part? I have no idea what "Open Edit Video Advanced = Videowave use the help file.." means, or where to find it!

By the way, Lavasoft's Ad-Aware Total Security was not running during the installation of Creator 2012 - It only reports what it believes to be a virus whenever I attempt to open the "Learning Center."

Can you perhaps find a more 'newbie' explanation for 'Open Edit Video Advanced = Videowave use the help file..' Thanks

I can confirm that there was a post to that effect from you earlier as post #3 on this thread, but it now seems to have disappeared and it isn't where I'd expect to find it if it had been deleted ordinarily. I didn't delete it - I hope our phantom deleter hasn't got active again.

I'm trying to find you something useful, Berryb.

Well OK, I guess - It could well be wrong - but I have no intention of getiing rid of it just to use the ROXIO Learning Center!

I've just been checking on that and it seems that Avast was also picking it up on eBay but an update to Avast cleared it (looks like a false positive).

Check for an Adaware update and try again

Ad-Aware Total Security drives me CRAZY with updates, so I kinda doubt that's the problem. Thanks, though!
