Very Long Dvd Write Time

PSRumbaugh

Question

I recorded a VHS tape that was 1:51:26 long to C: drive using Easy VHS to DVD. The .MPG file on C: drive is 6.9973GB. After trimming the file to 1:47:05 (6.568 GB) I exported it to a DVD+R disc. The .MPG file to the DVD+R was automatically compressed via the export function to 4.4051 GB on the DVD+R as seven .VOB files. It took OVER 3 hours to export, write and verify the DVD+R. This seems like an unreasonably long time period! How long should it have taken and why so long? Note: normally a 60 minute (uncompressed) .MPG file will export, write and verify in about 14 minutes. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron N4110 with a 2 GHz Intel B940 dual core Pentium processor, 4 GB of RAM, 8X DVD writter and is running Win7 Professional.
