Too long to burn PhotoShow

I have the same problem I've never seen a program to take hours to create a slideshow with just 50 images... what is the problem. I did all the updates, so I'm running the latest version, no I'm not a premium member and don't plan to be if it's going to be that slow. I have 3g of memory, plenty of hardive space. I'm running Roxio Creator 2011, so I'm assuming that's how I ended up with Photoshow. It loads the pictures fast enough and instantly plays the slideshow and music, when you want to burn or make a video file of any resolution, it just sits there forever. I don't have the time or patience to let my computer to sit there for 3 to 4 hours....

Why can't Roxio fix this?

There is nothing to fix. The speed at which PhotoShows are rendered (encoded) is controlled by a number of factors - the number of images and their physical size (and pixels), the number of Music mp3 you use, the transitions, and anything else you have put into the slide show. Combine this with your computer specs and health (defrag your hard drive recently?) and whatever else you have running while the video encodes.

 

I can do a 50 image slide show in just a few minutes so somehting else is slowing it down. When it is encoding, use the three fingure salute to get to Windows Task Manager and look at you CPU use. If it is high, there are too many other open programs.

 

Remember that there are two parts of the process. The encoding to make it into a format that will play on a DVD player and then the actual burning to the disc.

 

Try outputting the PhotoShow to a mpg2 file and then using Creator 2011 Create DVD to burn it to a disc.

 

Since you didn't say how many mp3 files and any other specific information on the PhotoShow and the speed and health of your computer, I can't tell if 3-4 hours is excessive. It does seem very long for 50 images unless you are adding a lot of mp3 music files and have added a lot of text.

 

Have you tried using "Edit Video-Advanced": to create a slide show? It is a more manual process that you can control. Watch these videos (link) from one of our frequent posters.
