Creator 2012 Pro Installation Problems

Question

I got the brand new DVD in the mail yesterday that I purchased from Roxio. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I uninstalled every single Roxio and Sonic file that was on my computer from Creator 10 that was giving me problems with Windows 7. I followed all of the instructions about disabling all startups and shutting down anti-virus/firewall before beginning installation.

First time I inserted the Installation DVD into the drive, there was nothing. I opened My Computer, saw that the DVD was recognized, so tried to install from there. After running for a bit, I got the message, "D://is not a vaild Win32 application. I could find no online support for this issue, so sent an email to Roxio Support explaining that I had the brand new DVD installation disc. Trouble ticket #1258577. The reply I received was that I should download again and if that did not work, then get an installation disc from Roxio. Duh! Didn't I say that I had the disc? That was hours ago and they have not replied back.

For the last 7+ hours I have been trying to install with zero luck. I have tried setup.exe CleanSystem=1 with no luck. There is no reference to any Roxio or Sonic program in the Control Panel or Start Menu. I am hoping there is someone out there who can help before I demand my money back. Thank you.

Is that Easy Media Creator 10 or Roxio Creator 2010?

Easy Media Creator 10 is not compatible with W-7, Roxio Creator 2010 is compatible with W-7.

All you have told us is "For the last 7+ hours I have been trying to install with zero luck."

No error code, no installation stops at, and rolls back!

"That was hours ago and they have not replied back." They won't it is a weekend in the part of the world I live in.

It is 2012. It is in the topic. I just tried Disc #2 and it tries to install just fine so I am thinking that Disc #1 is faulty.

And, I am aware that it was not Windows 7 compatible. For the record, everything did work except MyDVD.

Then why was it installed on a W-7 PC if you knew it wasn't compatible?

Did you just uninstall using it using control panel, program and features?

When installing disc #1 of Creator 2012 any error codes, installation stops at what and rolls back?

1. I was not aware of incompatibility until I tried to use MyDVD. Everything else worked.

2. I used Revo Uninstaller to remove all including registries.

3. First error was in my first message above about D not being a valid Win32 application. Latest error is "D:\error performing inpage operation."

4. When I insert Disc #1, the DVD drive light comes on for a bit then goes off. If I go to My Computer, it does recognize the Roxio DVD. I have tried to run setup from there with no luck. I tried to right click on it and then Open in new Window with no luck.

Have you looked at the underside of the DVD?

Dirty, scratched, finger prints?

Rinse it of with warm water and dry it with a clean cotton T shirt.

If it still won't read contact Roxio support for a new disc.

Yes, I did check it and it's definitely scratched. When I opened the package, Disc #1 was not attached to its post so it was flopping around in there during transit.
