Okay, here's my problem. I plugged in the device as shown. When I turn on the capture device, the audio comes in fine but I receive nothing in the preview window. Also, the status says "No Signal" in green. What am I doing wrong?

Are these two showing in Device Manager with the USB Capture Device plugged in?

Do you see a picture on the TV?

In the software where it says Source do you see Roxio GAMECAP Capture?

Also click Options next to Source and make sure it is set correctly.NTSC-M if in US.

480P/576P/720P/1080I

Okay, I wasn't sure which NTSC to click on.

As for the picture on the screen, I'm not sure what you're referring to. I can see my X-Box on the TV screen, but not in the preview window in the software.

Ok,you get a picture on the TV but No Signal in the software.

So in the software does it show what I said for Source?

Is the device plugged in to a front USB or back on your computer? If on the front try the back.

Also if you have one try a different USB cable from the device to your computer. It wouldn't be unheard of to have a bad cable.

I don't know why it wouldn't get a signal.

As long as the cables are all connected correctly, the device shows good in device manager, you see pic on TV and you get audio then I'd suspect you may have an issue with your device.

Try contacting Roxio. You may have a bad device. They are the ones that can say or not.

Before I call Roxio, let me just make sure my connections are correct. The X-Box 360 connector cable goes into the Component Video In (the side with the green letters on the Capture Card) and the cables that came with the Capture Card box go from the Component Video Out (the side with the white letters) to the video ports on the TV, right?

I'm going to piggy back on this simply because I'm having the same problem and will also add something that may provide a clue. I didn't start having this problem until after I applied the latest (December 2011) update. I've found that if I un-install the update and the re-install the software fresh (without applying the update), it all works fine, aside from the audio-level issues the patch was supposed to fix.

Thanks for posting that option for the OP. Did you use anyhting special to uninstall the program? Did you do any updates to your computer - like audio and video drivers?

The program and the update were both uninstalled through Windows 7 control panel then the OS was rebooted before re-installing the software via installation disc. I didn't do any updates to video or audio drivers but both have been checked and are up to date, so is Windows 7. I've only arrived at that conclusion because the Roxio GC software was working fine before applying the update (save for the audio levels issue) - so the only change applied was the Dec 2011 update.

I'll wait to apply the update at some later time if there is a revision to it, but as of right now the software is working without the update. Again - save for the distorted audio levels, which I've tweaked through console and in game volume setting adjustments. Granted, I know that's not a genuine fix, but until I find an update to the software that doesn't halt the app, I'll have to make do.

Just to clarify...this is the update that you applied http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/gamecapture/software_updates.html
