Usb Connection Issue

dcappe

Question

I have a Mac Pro running OS 10.6.8

when I plug my vhs into the converter and into the USB 2.0 port (any of the 4 on the computer) and start up the program I get the following

"Please connect your Easy VHS to DVD Capture hardware to any USB2.0 port". I've changed the wires, tried starting the vhs before hooking up to USB, shut down machine, reinstalled the program and upgraded to v1.0.5..... nothing works.

Please help

Maybe the device cable is defective. From your description you're doing everything correctly.

I'm trying to get some help from Roxio - first they explained how to hook up the cables, then suggested that my mac usb 2.0 drivers might need updating - I have no idea how to update a USB driver on a mac, nor have I ever had to, nor can I find a single reference to updating a USB 2.0 on the apple site.

Can you return it from you bought it from? Roxio has a 30-day refund policy if you bought from them. Anyone else should accept returns of a product that the customer says is defective out of the box. Apparently Roxio's support folks are giving you a response that is common for Windows computers.

I was getting the same message, it seems whenI first plugged it in, it was really hard, didn't seem to fit right, it seemed to work, but no image from VCR, then it gave the message after unplugging and replugging that it needed to be connected.

Same problem, no sound or picture or recognition of the Video Capture USB. "Please connect your Easy VHS to DVD Capture hardware to any USB2.0 port" is all i get. Tried two different computers - Mini with 10.5.8 and a MacBook Pro with 10.8.2. Output is fine to a monitor using either SVHS Cable or Video. Bought it months ago along with Toast 11 Pro and never got it working. Toast is 11.1 and Easy capture is 1.05. Is it a bad USB Video Capture plug in?

Sometimes it works to insert the device after launching the application.

I just purchased yesterday and have had the same problem. Tried 2 sets of cable. Tried shutdown comptuer. Tried off and on on VCR. Running 10.6.8 and have run all updates on computer. Ran disk utility. NOTHING but "Please connect your Roxio Video Capture Hardware to any USB 2.0 port." Some one mentioned have 1.05. There is an update for that version for mac os 10.5 and above I believe. Mine is Roxio Video Capture 2.0 per Get Info. It aslo states on the box for Mac 10.5, 10.6, or 10.7. I emailed Roxio but of course have not yet heard back.

There is a Roxio Video Capture 2.0.1. However, the application doesn't check for updates until the USB card is inserted and recognized. Hopefully it will be recognized if you insert the card after launching the application.

I cannot get it to recognize the USB card prior to or following opening the software. I have exhausted all options I can think of from reloading software to trying new cables from the vcr, to begging roxio tech support to give me advise. He kindly gave me a list of steps that were obviously IBM related. When I explained that he apologized and agreed he had made a huge error. Wanted to research it some more. Came back and told me to reload software, yet again, but still nothing has worked. I hope Best Buy will refund me my money. They have a no refund policy on open software, which I understand, but it doesn't work.

Sorry that nothing has worked. I think BestBuy will see your return as a defective hardware device. The software isn't the problem. You don't even need cables connected to the USB stick for it to be recognized.
