Curly
Did you try the pxengine 3, which is an older version. You can find it, here (2nd link down): http://forums.support.roxio.com/topic/45357-drive-not-recognized-by-roxio/ Just tried your option 2; no success. Thanks anyway. I do appreciate your attention. Brendon
Yes, that does work. Just bugs me that I can't access the DVD/RW Drive directly from the "Photo-Roxio Import Media" section. Thanks for all your time and assistance. I'm going to put this one to bed. Thanks Curly, Sorry we couldn't nail down the cause of this for you in the time given. I haven't seen this situation before, where some of the Roxio applications can see your drives while others can't. It's usually a PX filter problem, and it usually shows as either all the Apps see your drives or else none of them do. Trying to diagnose this from long distance is difficult, and just saying 'Good Grief' is pointless. This is the sort of case where we really need to be sitting in front of the computer watching the process to see what's going wrong, and perhaps running through an uninstall/reinstall cycle to try and get the software back to factory condition. Regards, Brendon
Curly
Open the disc from the drive icon in My Computer, copy and paste the pics from the CD to a folder on your hard drive. Now can you navigate to that folder from what you call "the Roxio Photo section"? Does that work? Yes, that does work. cdanteek
My previous post was confusing, sorry. No, I still have the same problem with the Photo Section not being able to see the DVD RW Drive which means I cannot import pics from a CD directly from the drive. The Photo section does see all of my USB ports. The Audio section (record/copy music CDs) of the suite CAN see the DVD RW Drive, it is just the Photo Section I still have a problem with. Brendon
so then i opened the link in the "fix" folder and it automatically went to the Installation Wizard like you refer to in your post. Thanks! So has that fixed the problem now?
Curly
Are you sure you followed the 'fix' post to the 'T'? Why I ask, Brendon and I have broke the filters in several Roxio versions. We worked out this fix and it works in everything we have tried it on in Vista and W-7 x32 x64, so Roxio software will see the drives! following your instructions, i had a problem when it came time to paste your link in the "run" box. it pasted OK but after I hit OK, the computer could not find the file. your link name was exactly the same name of the file in my "fix" folder except that it did not have the last part of your link where it said " /pxhelponvista". I tried deleting that part, still would not accept it even though the names were exactly the same: the name in "run" box and the name in the "fix" folder???? so then i opened the link in the "fix" folder and it automatically went to the Installation Wizard like you refer to in your post. Thanks!
cdanteek
Windows can see the DVD drive even though EMC 9 cannot. I tried the "fix" described in an early post but it didn't work. BUT you provided me with a viable alternative. Thanks! Are you sure you followed the 'fix' post to the 'T'? Why I ask, Brendon and I have broke the filters in several Roxio versions. Curly
Windows (Vista 32bit) can see the drive but the Photo and Audio portions of my EMC Suite 9 cannot see the DVD RW (E) drive. I did follow your suggestion and went to the link you provided (#6) but after doing the described steps three times (with re-boots), still have the same problem. I sent a query to Roxio Support. If they provide a valid solution I will re-post. Thanks for you assistance.

Brendon
If the Roxio program can't see your drives but Windows can, go HERE and follow what the Master, cdanteek, says in post #6.

Cannot import even though I have Photo as my default importer for pictures. Thanks! Does your PhotoSuite 9 program see the DVD drive? Does Windows see your DVD drive, and if so, does it recognize the disc in the drive? (Oops, Walt asked this already.) If you Roxio program does not see the drive, and Windows does, download the PXengine in the following link, and run/install it. http://kb.roxio.com/search.aspx?URL=/content/kb/General%20Information/000070GN&PARAMS=

Cannot import even though I have Photo as my default importer for pictures. Thanks! What photo program are you talking about? If you mean Photosuite then please use the name to avoid confusion. Does Windows Explorer see the disc in the drive? If yes then simply copy the photo files to your hard drive, there is no need to do any importing. What do you want to do with the photos?
