Resize In Photosuite Does Not Work?

Arbyem

Question

Hi. I have just downloaded and installed Creator 2012, because Photosuite9 in my EMC 9 product ceased to permit any photo to be opened. Howwever, after cropping a photo succesfully in PhotoSuite, trying to resize a photo does not work, because clicking on the photo image does NOT display the edge/corner handles to permit the resizing (as it did properly in Photosuite9 before it failed). Further, changing one of the sizes, in “maintain proportions” mode, does not result in the change being accepted, with the other size being automatically determined. Can anyone identify what is wrong, and suggest a resolution to my problem?

Part of the problem is not understanding what is going on...

Resize does what it says. You have a check box to either maintain the Ratio or not! (wise folks shoot in the ratio of their output and maintain that ration ;) )

Cropping removes portions of your Photo but you can preselect sizes based on common photo paper ratios.

If you want to freehand everything, your pictures will be inconsistent and irritating to look at :P

Thanks for the quick response. However, I have been using Photosuite9 for several years, so I am very familiar with the features and how they are SUPPOSED to work! The "Maintain proportions is always checked in my use of the feature. Regrettably, as I tried to explain, my version of the Creator 2012 Photosuite program does not display the handles to permit resizing to be conducted! Does anyone have an explanation for this obvious defect in performance?

Oops again! Somehow, while editing my response to the previous post, I hit the "Problem resolved" button before submitting my reply. this reply has now disappeared from this stream! The bottom line is that I re-tried the Resize feature on several photos for which I had been unable to operate the Resize feature. The work-around is that, when the handles do not appear, I often have to hit OK, then repeat the selection of Resize. This does display the handles, and the execution can be completed. I would still like to know why this behaviour exists on my system (HP dv9820us laptop, Win 7 x64 SP1, 4 GB RAM).

Your suffering from a version of Sticker Shock

You have leaped ahead 5 Versions!!! and you find that things have changed...

I don't know when it was changed, I went back a to Creator 2010 and it works the same way there.

I looked at the Easy CD & DVD Burning, which is based on EMC 10 (with mods to run in Win7) and I see it has the handles you are referring to. So I am guessing it was changed in Creator 2009 and has stayed that way for 4 versions.

I have been running Paint Shop Pro for the last 7 Versions and it has never had Resize Handles, so I have never missed them  Personally I don't really see the point. I've been using inches or pixels for 11 years and never had a need for a handle  (that is my personal opinion and I am not knocking your question at all!)
