Motion Menu

abg0201

Question

Hi all,

I am looking for an alternative product to Apple's DVDstudio Po, as I waited until FCPx came out and therefore missed the boat :(

Anyway, I don't seam to be able to answer a simple question. Will Toast 11 (or 10 for that matter) allow me to create a motion menu for a DVD or Blu ray disc? I want to be able to have an Apple Motion project play on the disc insertion, then when the user clicks play, a second Apple Motion created video file plays before the main feature.

To try and explain myself a bit better, I envisage a pupil at a school front door waiting patiently for the user to press play. When this happens the lad pulls open the door and the camera zooms through the aperture and the main feature starts. I have created the videos already in Motion, I just need a programme that will create it as a DVD menu. Will toast let me do this?

Best

Andy.

But why? I think that isn't such hard advantage from technical side, It's easy to add to toast and is needed for a lot of customers.

I agree but it has always been Roxio's strategy to have minimal menus with Toast. Given all the things they need to fix I prefer they work out the bugs before adding new features. That may be because I get weary of having to figure out workarounds to things that shouldn't require them. For standard-def video DVD authoring there is MovieGate and CaptyDVD 2 that have motion menus with sound (along with Apple's iDVD and DVD-SP, of course). I don't know what is available for authoring Blu-ray video discs other than Toast.
