Converting Video File

Sand-dog

Question

Situation: My camera gives me a .mov file extention. Roxie can not read it. I used mp4 (on a whelm) and it compressed my .mov file about 50%.

Question: What video file can I use that will give me the least compression after the .mov file is converted to it?

I can then use that extention to make my movie and convert it to AVCHD.

NOTE: I am curious as to how Hollywood can put a movie on a DVD and have excellent quality? Can someone point me in that direction.

Have you tried changing the mov extension to mpg and see if Roxio can use it? Not all "mov"s are the same and some manufacturers do not follow the industry standards and you wind up with problems like you are experiencing.

You have not explained what you did to convert the mov video to mp4 (what is whelm), what type of source file you have (HD or standard), what settings you used for converting, etc. Just stating "mp4" tells us nothing. What program are you using to convert to mp4? There are many free ones out there that do an excellent job.

Unless you started out with HD mov, converting to "AVCHD" is pointless since the quality will not be better then the source.

Do you really think that Hollywood uses beginners software to create their DVD?

Roxio will give you excellent quality if you start with excellent source video.
