Cant Record At All

Basically I have the new Xbox 360 250GB and i got a HD AV Component cable from my old Xbox to use for thre Roxio but I have a HD Tv and it wont show up at all on the software at all. So we took the casing off the HD AV Component Cable and put that in the back of my Xbox as well as my HDMi Cable but now on the software it dosent show whats on the Tv but plays the sound on my Xbox on the software! Please Help.

OK, I confess, I don't understand about stripping off the casing etc.

 

Please give more detail.
