Letter Boxing

tberry

Question

Probably a dumb newbie question, but here goes. Edited a video for our local theater company. 3 cameras, all in 16/9. imported into Final Cut Express, and all editing done there. Chapter markers inserted in FCE (named). Exported as Quick Time Movie (not conversion) and loaded into Toast. Chapters show up, but not the names. Not a deal breaker. Here's the problem. I burned a DVD - no problem, but it is letter boxed - vertical bar on each side. What gives? Can't find anything in preferences or other menu to change this. Selected the menu as 16/9. Help?

How does Toast describe the video's specs when it is in the Toast Video window? My guess is you need to use different settings for the resolution when saving as a full quality QuickTime movie from FCE. In order for Toast to create an anamorphic 16:9 video DVD the source should be 838 x 480 resolution.
