When I try to remove Roxio Update Manager

I get a pop up saying

Installer Stopped Prematurely

When I click OK I get another pop up saying

Fatal error during installation

This is from a Kb article on Update Manager. You might want to check to see what kind of Kb articles there are available so you don't have to wait for someone to respond.

<LI>If Update Manager fails to uninstall, corruption has occurred that prevents removal. You will have to manually remove Update Manager:

  • Go to My Computer --> C:\\Program Files\Sonic. If there is a folder named Update Manager, right click on it and select delete.
  • Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\<--user name-->\Application Data\Sonic and delete the "Update Manager" folder.

NOTE: You may need to enable hidden files. Do this within Windows Explorer by going to Tools --> Folder Options --> View tab and select Show Hidden Files and Folders.

When I try to uninstall

Sonic Activation Module I get a pop up

An installation for Roxio Update Mananager is currently suspended.

You must undo the changes made by that installation to continue.

Do you want to undo those changes?

When I click Yes It says

Installer stopped prematurely

How do I get rid of it?

Why are you trying to uninstall all these modules? Have you uninstalled the program? You may be screwing up your computer by doing these things piecemeal.

P'Nut. Did you read my first post about the issue if it doesn't uninstall? You just need to delete those folders. Did you try that? Did you find the folders? Did you delete them? If you did, then there is nothing that would pop up the update manager. mad.gif

Get someone to help you.

Are you having trouble following the threrad? That sometimes happens if you post the same question in a couple of different places and someone combines the threads.

NO! Are YOU! Did you see the thread where I said I removed everything. I did the regedit, hidden folders and add/remove programs I did everything on the article

I DID ALL THIS!!!

Maybe I'm not making myself clear. I have followed the instructions above and BOTH Roxio Update Manager and Sonic Activation Module will not uninstall.

Download and run Revo Uninstaller (free) http://download.cnet.com/Revo-Uninstaller/3000-2096_4-10687648.html?tag=mncol;1 in the Moderate Mode.

Thank You!! I downloaded the Revo-Uninstaller. It took care of Roxio Update Manager. The Sonic Activation Mode is not in my add and remove programs or anywhere else except in the tools of my CCleaner Program Any Ideas!! Thanks Again. Finally feel like I'm getting somewhere though I still have other issues. Just trying to take care of one at a time.

Open CCleaner>Tools>Uninstall, and select the Program to remove.

I tried that. When I try to uninstall with CCleaner it says

A previous installation for this product is in progress.

You must undo the changes by that installation before you continue.

Do you want to undo those changes? If I press Yes it says

Installer stopped prematurely.

If I press No Nothing happens Still there.

I was just wondering. How do I find out where it is?

Because I have done all the uninstalls, deletes and removals in files,

add/remove programs and registry edit.

Is it just in the CCleaner program? Is there a way to do a search?
