Wrong Cd Key - Emc 9

R_Duke

Question

I went to create a video DVD and on starting this from the main menu I was informed that this needed to be activated. This process failed with the error "The CD key is invalid". Retry's did not help. I de-installed the entire Easy Media Creator 9 suite and attempted a complete re-install. When it asked for the CD key (near the start of the install) I put it in and was informed that the key was invalid. The key I used is the one I have always used on earlier re-installs. I have this key recorded in 2 places as well as on my registration page with Roxio so I know it is correct. I also had someone else verify the key. I tried to install this software on another machine and it failed with the same error. The original machine had Vista on it and the 2'nd machine was XP.

Does anyone have an answer for this one

Thanks

That probably screwed you up.

Forgive this question, are you entering the CD key or the TSID key. The later is not what you want to enter.

The only thing I can recommend is to download the free "Revo Uninstaller" and run that in the MODERATE mode to uninstall what actually got installed and is still left over. It will delete everything that needs to be deleted including the registry entry that has the corrupt or missing cd key.

I do not mind any questions that you may ask.

I do not know the difference between CD and TSID. I have only had and ever used the one key. It is 17 characters long and a combination of letters and numbers and as you can see by the one attachment is divided into 4 groups, the first is 2 characters and the other 3 are 5 characters

I will try the Revo Uninstaller once I know where to get it. Can you let me know? Can you also let me know what you mean by MODERATE mode

The problem was resolved by using Revo Uninstall. Thanks to all for your time

Great, that has been a solution to many issues for many people ! tongue.gif

Have a Happy 2012!

And never using a registry cleaner will help !

R_Duke,

Another option which may be less trouble and less expense . .

Would you contact me by PM [private message] clicking on the envelope symbol under my name at the left of this message, and let me know exactly which version of EMC 9 you're trying to install - Basic, Deluxe, Premiere, Suite, DE, and 9.0 or 9.1 - and what Operating System you're using.

I can try your key on a fresh installation using the same OS to see if there's something wrong with the key itself, and one of my keys might work on your installation - which would solve your problem.

Regards,

Brendon

xx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx is the CD Key - That is the format of the number I have been using. It is the only one I have.

I am using upper case.

It compares OK with the one recorded in Roxio account.

Two choices open email support ticket or contact Roxio direct.

It's a older product and they might want to charge you for phone support.

When you type it in are you using lower case or upper case?

If you registered your Roxio product online, the CD-Key can be found in your Roxio account. click here to log into your Roxio account.

No updates to the operating system

yes to registry cleaner (very recent, CCleaner)

This thread really needs to be moved to the EMC 9 part of the forum. EMC 9 is not the same as Creator 2009.

Just a question, did you do any updates to your operating system or have you been running a registry cleaner?

INSTALLED IT 5 OR 6 TIMES in the past (a guess as I never kept track)

BOUGHT RETAIL

THE ERROR MESSAGE IS "The CD key that you entered is not valid. Please re-enter your CD key and try again"

Are you entering a # 0 or a letter o a # 1 (one) or a letter l (L) lower case?
